Carers & Communities recognises carers play a vital role in our communities and in order to support and reach more carers and improve Men's Health the role male carers play in caring for loved ones needs to be recognised, valued and given access to support.

We are committed to reaching more male carers because the impact of caring on health is well documented.

The Carers UK State of Caring 2025 survey found that 42% of carers said their physical health has suffered as a result of caring, and 30% said their physical health was bad or very bad. Three quarters (74%) of carers said they had felt stressed or anxious, and 40% feel depressed. 35% of carers said their mental health was bad or very bad.”

More specific information around male carers from a survey from Carers Trust and Men's Health Forum tell us male carers do not always talk or share their caring role their caring role with others and sometimes find it harder to ask for support. Therefore, it is ever more important to understand what a carer is, to help male carers identify as carers, understand they are not alone and where to come for information, advice and support.

If you are in a caring role and would like to reach out at a time that suits you, you can do so via phone, email or even webchat.

Carers Week is now coming to an end, however carers will continue to care all year round.
It has been a busy week and we are delighted to have met so many carers.
In recognition of all carers do, we want to make sure that we continue to raise awareness of caring in our communities, ensure carers are able to get the support they need and are able to share their lived experiences to continue to work with the systems we have, to provide positive change and influence.
Thank you to all our partners for sharing information, supporting us by providing venues and sharing information on socials. We have been really pleased with the support and sharing of our resources and seeing them pop up this Carers Week.
It is with this in mind, we would like to now share resources you can continue to use to support carers. In our Carers Week BLOG for today, you will find for all you need to support carers in our communities all year round.

We are celebrating carers in a big way this Carers Week, whilst also recognising the tremendous role they play in our communities and society, often in challenging circumstances.
This week we have highlighted why Carer Voice is essential. Carers lived experiences can make a real difference in shaping and influencing the systems that support their role.
Building carer-friendly communities depends on working together, listening and understanding what carers need, and acting on what they tell us. Carers consistently say they need a break, want to feel recognised and valued, yet many still feel invisible.
The value of listening and involving carers in decisions is even more evident in the recent Accelerating Reform Fund project. Our work focuses on hospital discharge and gives a detailed look at why carers need to be involved throughout the journeys they navigate, from the earliest possible stage.
"Behind every discharge is a family adapting to change, often at pace. Behind every hospital bed is a multidisciplinary team balancing flow, safety and quality. This programme has consistently highlighted that discharge sustainability is a shared responsibility – one that depends not only on clinical readiness, but also on carer capacity, confidence and resilience."
The report shares the stories of four carers. These stories may be difficult to read, but are essential in showing the impact that excluding carers can have during significant life transitions such as hospital discharge.
Please do read the report and share it with friends, colleagues, and wider networks.
Although implementation is still ongoing, a lasting outcome of this work is a renewed commitment to making sure carers’ are heard and their lived experiences help shape meaningful, lasting change across the system.
We encourage carers to get in touch to find out about other opportunities to get involved in areas related to caring, whether that is sharing lived experience, helping shape services, contributing to local conversations, or influencing future developments. https://www.carersandcommunities.org.uk/post/carers-week-building-carer-friendly-communities-working-with-the-system Carers Week

British Heart Week is observed from 7 to 15 June. The reason for this observation is to spread awareness about heart diseases and help people get the right treatment. The British Heart Foundation is U.K.’s heart charity that founded the British Heart Week. Heart diseases are one of the country’s leading diseases that is responsible for every 1 in 4 deaths. The week-long observation is also a tribute to the medical professionals for their continuous research of the heart.

We provide a number of services and support for carers of all conditions. We have extremely experienced advisors who can support carers on their journey to supporting a loved one and provide signposting and information and advice relevant to their caring role.
