Grateful to Healthwatch Worcestershire for producing this report. The PSA blood test is the first step in determining if you may have developed Prostate Cancer. If over 50 or over 45 and black or have a family history you can request a PSA test from your GP. We at WPCSG are organising 8 PSA testing events this year. If the GP experience hasn’t worked for you, register online for one or our events. An early diagnosis can make all the difference.

📄 We’ve published our latest report on men’s experiences of PSA testing and prostate cancer in Worcestershire, based on feedback from 154 men.
💬 The report highlights:
• Variation in advice and support from GP practices
• Some men are still initiating PSA testing themselves
• Uncertainty around personal risk and when to seek help
• Gaps in clear and consistent information
• Concerns around later-stage diagnosis for some men
While some men described positive experiences, others continue to face barriers in accessing support and understanding what happens next — showing the need for earlier identification, clearer communication, and more consistent care.
🎧 Alongside this, we worked with Chris Byrne and Phil Goodall to create a podcast sharing real experiences — including delays in diagnosis, mixed messages, and why understanding your risk matters.
