🌿🎉 What a Fantastic Reopening Day at the LINK Community Hub! 🎉🌿

Today marked an exciting new chapter for the LINK Community Hub as we officially reopened following a major refurbishment programme.

Visitors had the opportunity to see the incredible improvements that have transformed the site into an even more welcoming and accessible community space for local people, veterans, families and the wider community.

✨ Highlights of the refurbishment include:

☕ A fully refurbished kitchen, now operating as a community café
🚻 Updated toilet facilities
🪑 New patio and seating areas
🚶 Improved walkways throughout the site
🛝 A children's play area for families to enjoy
🌺 A variety of beautiful gardens and wellbeing spaces
🏡 A brand-new reception area to welcome visitors
🌱 Enhanced growing areas and community gardening spaces

The feedback throughout the day was amazing, with many visitors commenting on how much the site has changed and how welcoming, peaceful and vibrant the LINK has become.

A huge thank you to our volunteers, staff, supporters and funders who have worked tirelessly to make this transformation possible. Your dedication has helped create a community hub that everyone can be proud of.

We’re back with Banter & Brew this Friday in Wolverhampton and trust us, you don’t want to miss it! Whether you're coming for the laughs, the company, or just a solid excuse for a free brew we’ve got you covered.

Come along and just bring yourself, we’ll supply everything you need. All Banter and Brews are completely free, though we welcome donations to help cover materials.

🍓 Something exciting is growing at the LINK Community Hub! 🍓

Our brand new inclusive strawberry picking area is almost ready and the strawberries should be ready in around two weeks time!

We have completely replaced all of the beds and strawberry plants and created raised growing platforms with wider access routes to make the area more accessible for disabled visitors, wheelchair users, families, and people of all ages.

🌸💪 FEMALE VETERANS… WE SEE YOU! 💪🌸

Last night some of our amazing female veterans from the West Midlands Wellbeing Centre in Oldbury escaped for a meal, laughs, and a good old catch up 🍽️😂

Meanwhile over at the LINK Community Hub today… the Craft Club is in full swing with tea, creativity, chatter, and enough glitter and wool to possibly take over Worcestershire 😉🧶☕

At this point, we’re starting to think the women are quietly taking over the world… one coffee, crochet hook, and support session at a time 😄

The best part?
Nobody has to do life alone. Whether it’s friendship, support, crafts, a brew, or just being around people who “get it,” there’s always a seat at the table.

We are delighted to announce the official Grand Re-opening of The LINK Community Hub on Friday 29 May, from 11am to 4pm.

This is a very special milestone for STEPWAY CIO as we celebrate the refurbishment of the LINK, including our new community café, new toilet facilities, outside patio, walkways and seating area.

The day will be a chance to come together with local people, charities, businesses, supporters and partners to see the improvements and celebrate this important new chapter with us.

Guests can expect a warm welcome, the opportunity to look around the refurbished space, meet others from the local community and enjoy refreshments including homemade cakes, tea, coffee and soft drinks.

We would love to see you there and help us mark this special occasion.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED for 🌟 STEPWAY BATTLE BUDDIES 🌟

Stepway is actively looking for volunteers to fill the role of ‘Battle Buddies’ providing peer support and companionship across STEPWAY services, including the Oldbury Wellbeing Centre (West Midlands), LINK-The Community HUB (Worcestershire), online support groups, and home or hospital/prison (HMP) visits where appropriate.

Supporting individuals through social connection, wellbeing activities, signposting, and regular check-ins to reduce isolation and encourage positive engagement.

The role requires:

* Good listening and communication skills
* Approachable and empathetic nature
* Ability to maintain confidentiality
* Understanding of the challenges faced by veterans, family members, and individuals with complex needs

A powerful and positive day as partners, supporters, and members of the community came together for the official launch event.

It was an honour to hear the passion, commitment, and shared vision for creating stronger support networks within our communities.

Events like this remind us why partnership working matters and how much can be achieved when organisations and local people stand together with a common purpose.

At STEPWAY, we remain committed to supporting veterans, families, and local communities through wellbeing, recovery, employability, and social connection.

We are proud to be part of conversations and projects that create real opportunities and lasting change.
