Worcester Angling Society

Worcester Angling Society Worcester Angling Society is believed to be the second oldest coarse angling club in the country.

The Society controls fishing on three beats of the River Teme (renowned for its Barbel and chub fishing) which total approximately five miles. One stretch approx. 1 mile on the Severn at Lower Diglis (west bank below the footbridge) and three beats on the river Wye at Bishopswood to around 2 miles. The Society also owns a pool at Brockamin near Leigh, which offers fishing for Carp, Roach, Rudd, Bream, Perch and Tench.

Results for the last two 3 hour Wednesday evening league fished on McCowens pool -

🥇Dan Godwin peg 5, 33lb 4oz
🥈Stuart Cholerton peg 3, 21lb 10oz
🥉Phil Clarke peg 11, 16lb 5oz
Silver winner Neil Angell

Catching Carp steady close in throughout gave Dan the win.
Stuart included some silvers along with Carp for second.
In form Phil continued his good run with third place from the top corner.

Proving to be the man to beat this series Phil included a nice brace of Chub to add to some Carp for the win.
A late run of Carp gained second spot for Allan.
A mixed bag from Neil secured third.
Encouraging to note that week on week the winning weight is improving.

Round 5 next Wednesday with draw and fishing times the same.

This Sunday there is bank clearing organised at Bishopswood , meeting on the canoe launch carpark 8.30 - 9.00

Spades, hooks and strimmers are the preferred weapons of choice as the vegetation is vigorous this year..

Following yesterdays away day match the five hour Sunday winter league (not much like winter yesyerday) takes a summer break with four matches remaining resuming on 18th October which will be an away day.

June's a busy month with the start of the hotly contested river contests and bank clearing at Bishopswood 7th, Teme/Diglis 13th & 14th where any form of help is greatly appreciated.

While most struggled for bites it was not the so for Phil who caught Carp steady throughout the match on waggle fished meat for a comfortable win.
One fish was enough for second place for Jeff while Graham picked up numerous small silvers for third.

Third round next week 27/05/26 draw 17.30 fish 18.00 - 21.00
A reminder that there is no pleasure fishing after 15.00 please.

🥉Stuart Cholerton peg 7, 14lb 5oz maggot

Silver winner Graham Rowberry.

Straight forward meat on the waggler tactics won the day for Phil off peg 3 taking a mixed bag of Carp,Chub & Bream.

All Carp from Dan was good enough for second just in front of Stuart 's mixed bag of Bream & Carp for third.

Next round is on 20/05/26 where the draw is at 17.30 with fishing 18.00 - 21.00
