“Roses are Red,
Their face is turning Blue,
Their hearts in VF,
Do you know what to do?!”

Good CPR and early defibrillation saves lives!

Automatic External Defibrillators - AED’s are almost everywhere and are identified by this symbol. They are REALLY straightforward and simple to operate meaning ANYONE can use them.

Don’t let your Valentine’s Day, become a Valentine’s Disaster!

Well done to Jon who is one of our volunteers at Worcester. Jon put his St John Ambulance training into practice and proved that

FIRST AID SAVES LIVES!!

St John Ambulance volunteer - Jon, was at work this week when a colleague unexpectedly collapsed in a meeting and went into cardiac arrest.

He immediately started CPR and called for the site defibrillator. An ambulance was called and arrived within 10 minutes of the initial collapse.

Despite some vigorous CPR and several shocks from the Defib, the patient was conscious and talking on their arrival and Jon was able to give the crew, coincidentally, our very own District Manager, a full handover.

Survival from out of hospital cardiac arrest (OOHCA) is rare but is highlighted here by early CPR and defibrillation.
