Healthy Communities Worcester have worked closely with Worcester Dementia Action Alliance and Dementia Friends, committing to becoming dementia friendly across all Freedom Leisure sites. With staff completing mandatory training to support the workforce, increasing awareness and confidence to recognise the signs of dementia.

We continue to expand our health programme delivery to ensure we are catering to a wide group of people and maximise opportunity to take part in both physical and social activities. There is a purposeful commitment across the sites to provide safe, comfortable spaces for people living with dementia, as well as other health concerns.

Mini Splash is a carefully designed programme aimed at introducing young children to swimming and water-based activities in a safe and supportive environment. The programme focuses on encouraging early physical activity in a fun atmosphere helping children and guardians build confidence within the water before learning to swim.

This aquatic play session is tailored for both babies and adults, offering flexible start times to accommodate feeding, changing, or the challenges of busy mornings. It also provides an opportunity for parents to connect with others, with supportive staff on hand and a well-deserved, FREE hot drink available afterwards.

While we cannot address sleepless nights, we strive to provide comfort and support during the day.

Mini Splash is proudly delivered in partnership with Action for Children and the Starting Well Partnership - South Worcestershire.

Due to the current heatwave, we have cancelled the Walking Football session at Perdiswell Leisure Centre tomorrow to keep everyone safe.

Look out for the 'Chatter & Natter table' on Tuesdays from 1.30-2.30pm with the Healthy Communities team.

A Chatter & Natter table brings people together and everyone is invited. If you fancy having a chat, going along to a Chatter & Natter table can be a great way to meet local people and we know that simply having a chat can brighten someone’s day and ours!
