Did you know April is Stress Awareness Month and a cat can actually help reduce it?

Purina is learning about increasing ways cats can improve our health and well-being. For example, do you know just 15 to 30 minutes of quality time with a cat can calm your nerves and boost your mood?

There's even chemical evidence. When you spend time with a cat, your production of serotonin, a chemical that boosts feelings of well-being, goes up, and your cortisol levels go down. Cortisol, along with high blood pressure, is a result of stress and can lead to high cholesterol and hypertension.

This means that spending time with a cat can keep you healthier in the long run. Luckily, boosting your mood and lowering your stress levels can be as simple as interacting with a cat.

Saturdays might be for lie-ins and lazy cups of tea, but for the cats in our care, it’s another day waiting for their fresh start. 🐾

Our volunteer team will be spending today cleaning pens, refreshing cosy beds and making sure every whiskered face gets the love and attention they deserve while they wait for their forever homes.

If you’re in the Sutton, Kingston & District area and thinking about welcoming a cat into your life, this could be the perfect weekend to start your adoption journey.

You can find out more about adopting, neutering support and the work we do on our website: www.cats.org.uk/sutton 💛

Show us how your own feline friends are spending their Saturday – snoozing in a sunny spot, bird-watching from the window or supervising the housework by sharing a photo in the comments. 😺

😻Could You Be a Foster Parent?😻

We are looking for volunteers to care for our cats until they find their forever homes. There is no cost to you, as we provide food, litter, and equipment, along with full training and support.

You don’t need to drive, as we have volunteers who can transport cats to vet appointments and deliver them to their new homes.

Fostering is flexible and can easily fit around your personal circumstances. Our foster cats are kept indoors, so you won’t need any outside space. They can roam freely throughout your home, but please note that you must have no other pets.

🚙 Transport Volunteer Needed 🚙

Are you a retired driver? Could you spare a few hours a week?

We are looking for someone to drive our van based at South London Cat Centre (Mitcham). The van is used for collecting cats coming in for rehoming, taking them to the vets, delivering cats to their forever home and distributing food and litter to our fosterers.

The driving would be around the areas covered by the Branch, Wallington, Carshalton, Sutton, Cheam, Worcester Park and Kingston. Mainly Monday to Friday but hours and days are flexible.

You’ll make your very own resin-filled wooden coaster by pressing your own flowers to add a sentimental touch or using the selection of vibrant flowers included.

Join the crafty cat-loving community to create yours on 18 April or do in your own time...the choice is yours.

And the best bit? You’ll be helping cats just by signing up to receive your kit.
