Afternoon views out to majestic Yeavering Bell ✨

We had a memorable Friday evening, as Yeavering’s palace was brought to life with the sound of voice and the glow of light.

We’re back on site today from 10am-4pm for a second day of geophysical survey demos, conversations about small finds, tours of the palace and grandstand, and a 7th-century encampment filled with the sights and smells (and colours!) of the past.

Come join us for an unforgettable ArchaeologyUK at Yeavering, Northumberland from Friday 31 July to Saturday 1 August. Try your hand at an early medieval game, chat about Northumbrian small finds with The Portable Antiquities Scheme, go on a tour of King Edwin’s palace with Archaeology at Durham University, learn about geophysical survey, walk through an early medieval camp with Acle, and inhabit the rich history of a lived landscape.

On Friday evening, watch as the contours of the palace and grandstand are lit up thanks to our friends Walk the Plank.
