This is such an important post. Post natal mental health difficulties are not limited to depression- anxiety, OCD and Psychosis are all examples of other post-natal mental health illnesses that people can be affected by and it's SO important not to underestimate the effects of birth trauma too.

Did you also know that those referred to talking therapies within two years of giving birth are treated as being within the 'post natal' period and this is reflected in your place on the waiting list for treatment.

Postnatal depression. Birth trauma. Postnatal anxiety. Perinatal OCD.

There are so many ways the perinatal period can affect your mental health and so many parents who have no idea that what they're experiencing has a name, a diagnosis, and a path toward feeling better.

If you're not okay, that is not a character flaw and it is not proof that you're not cut out for this. What you're feeling has a name and it is not your fault. And even if it doesn't have a name we can still support you, as many never get diagnosed with anything.

PANDAS is here to help you make sense of what you're going through. To see a full list of our free support services please click on the link in the first comment below.
