MINDFUL ART CLUB - MANDALAS AND ZENTANGLES
WEDNESDAY 21ST JANUARY 2026 (2 – 4 PM)
Welcome to 2026!
Let’s start the year with some gentle creativity; join Genevieve for the first session of her Mindful Art Club where you can spend two hours in the friendly, supportive company of like-minded friends.
You will be colouring mandalas and drawing Zentangles. These are both techniques for grounding us and relieving anxiety. If you’ve not come across Zentangles before, they are easy to do and suit all abilities. You do not need to be good at drawing! A Zentangle relies on patterns; they’re a kind of mindful doodling. The patterns can be anything from dots, lines, swirls, spirals to more complex patterns that require a little more focus. Genevieve will bring examples to show you, and help to get you started on this addictive hobby!
Mandalas first appeared in a Hindu text known as the Rig Veda (circa 1500 – 300 BCE) and are circular patterns that represent the universe. Nowadays, drawing and colouring mandalas are acknowledged as a meditation tool and a way to “switch off”. When drawing a mandala, you start from the centre and work outwards. When colouring a mandala, you begin around the outside edge and work towards the centre.
Genevieve’s Mindful Art Club is available to anyone who has been touched by cancer: whether you’ve experienced cancer yourself in the past, are currently undergoing treatment, are in recovery, or are close to and perhaps caring for someone undergoing treatment, these sessions are specially for you.
