The local plan will affect our valleys. Please read it and comment in the Consultation Portal. How to do so is here explained.
Step-by-Step Guide to Using the Consultation Portal
1. Go to the consultation website
localplan.stockport.gov.uk
2. Create an account / log in
You must do this before your comments count.
3. Pick a section you care about
You do not need to read every page.
Most people in Bredbury, Romiley and Woodley may want to comment on:
• Our homes
• Our places and neighbourhoods
• Our infrastructure
• Our environment
• Maps for specific locations
(There are sub sections in each chapter as well)
4. Pick a sub section and scroll to the bottom of the page
Look for the green button:
Make a comment
Click it.
5. Choose your answer
You will see options such as:
• Strongly agree
• Agree
• Neither agree nor disagree
• Disagree
• Strongly disagree
Then a box to explain why.
IMPORTANT
Why Strongly Agree / Strongly Disagree matters
Planning law treats consultation responses as evidence when balancing decisions.
Neutral or weak responses
(Agree / Disagree)
carry less weight.
Strong responses help show:
• clear community support, or
• clear community objection
If you feel strongly, use Strongly agree or Strongly disagree.
This does not make you “dramatic”, it makes your view count.
6. Write your comment
Keep it simple.
Examples:
I disagree because roads in this area are already congested during school and commuter hours. Infrastructure must come first.
or
I support a brownfield-first approach and agree that town centre sites should be developed before edge-of-settlement areas.
or
I strongly disagree with releasing green edge land when brownfield options still exist and infrastructure is at capacity.
Short sentences with real-life examples are enough.
You do not need planning language.
7. Submit your comment
Click Submit.
Then move on to any other sections you want to comment on.
8. IMPORTANT – Confirm your response by email
After you finish, you will get an email.
You must click the link in it.
If you do not validate by email, your comments will not count.
Check spam/junk if needed.

This process is about helping your neighbourhood have a say in the future of the area.
It is not political.
It is not about supporting or attacking the council.
It is about making sure developers cannot overrule community needs
