๐Ÿ‘ PASSOUT PARADE ๐Ÿ‘

Recruit Flight 102, who joined us in March, have officially passed out as cadets into No.1 and No.2 Flight following the completion of their First Class Cadet training and passing their recruit camp.

We are immensely proud of the progress made since March. It has been fantastic to watch them grow into capable, confident and determined young people and we look forward to seeing what they achieve as cadets on 241 Squadron.

A special congratulations to our award winners:
- ๐Ÿ† Cadet Latif (Best Recruit)
- โ ๐Ÿฅ Cadet Denhard (Best Band)
- ๐Ÿ’ช Cadet Low (Best Sport)
- โ ๐ŸŽฏCadet Kalsi (Best Drill)
- โ ๐Ÿ“š Cadet Simpson (Best Academic)

The night included presentations given by the Flight Commander, Officer in Charge and Chairman of the Civilian Committee followed by a band and drill performance. Their final parade as recruits started with the awards which were presented by our VIPs: Deputy Lieutenant David Utting, and Councillor Adam Joiner. The cadets were then posted to their new flights, where they will continue to develop themselves and their skills.

๐Ÿ‘ No.1 SECTOR RECRUIT CAMP ๐Ÿ‘

Cadets of No. 1 Sector have returned from the bi-annual recruit camp, held at 12F (Walthamstow) Squadron.

We are immensely proud of all of our recruits for persevering throughout the weekend, and ultimately earning them their Squadron flashes, the Black Witch. They explored various areas of the Air Cadets syllabus during the course such as First Aid, Leadership, Drill and Navigation.

Congratulations to Cadet Denhard for achieving Best Recruit, and to Cadet Ijaz for achieving Best Section Commander.

๐ŸŽฎ BFBS PRO LEAGUE GRAND FINAL๐ŸŽฎ

Our cadets represented 241 at the Hendon RAF museum during the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) Pro League Grand Final.

Cadets supported throughout the event by setting up engagement displays, providing information on the recruitment stand and assisting with the running of the virtual reality system and flight simulators. The museum was open throughout the event allowing the public to enjoy the band performance from London Wing, in which our own Corporal Tong played brilliantly. We were also privileged enough to watch the Band of The Ri**es and have access to the esports finals in the RAF Theatre. An event that encourages uptake on STEM opportunities within our organisation. Mr James Sales (ex Sergeant at 241) was the organiser with BFBS, and currently serves as a member of 241โ€™s Civilian Committee.

๐Ÿ“ฃ REGION FIELD DAY

Cadets from 241 represented London Wing in shooting at the annual Region Field Day, competing against the other units of London and South East Region (LaSER).

Competing in the London Wing A Team, our cadets proved their marksmanship, scoring well across all of their details. Whilst they were waiting they took advantage of the drone experience and climbing sessions offered by LaSER.

๐Ÿ‘ WELCOME TO THE NEW OIC ๐Ÿ‘

We are pleased to announce that Sergeant Taylor Leonard has been appointed as the new Officer In Charge of 241 Squadron.

Sergeant Leonard joined us in 2011, and by 2016 he had ascended to the highest cadet rank of Cadet Warrant Officer. Over his career he completed the Air Cadet Leadership Course at RAF College Cranwell, attended the International Air Cadet Exchange to the United States of America and earned his Cadet 100 on the L81A2 Cadet Target R***e. After his cadet career, Sergeant Leonard returned as a Civilian Instructor in 2019 and became a uniformed member of staff in 2024.

We can't wait to see what he will achieve as our Officer In Charge.

โœˆ๏ธ GLIDING

Our cadets took to the skies in the Viking T1 glider with 615 Volunteer Gliding Squadron. Climbing to over 1000 feet, our cadets enjoyed the views of the London skyline, took photos and had the opportunity to take control of the glider through various manoeuvres. They had an amazing time, and canโ€™t wait for their next gliding sessions.

๐Ÿ’ป GOLD CYBER

Cadet Tong has been awarded the Gold Cyber Badge, the highest qualification in the Cyber Specialist syllabus. The course was led by serving RAF Personnel who are experts in applications of modern technology in the Royal Air Force. He learnt about specialist cyber and radio techniques and studied high level defence systems. Classroom lessons were followed up by immersive practical lab sessions. This course provides an insight into the IT profession and enables Cadet Tong to return to 241 to instruct cyber courses to our cadets.

A massive congratulations to Cadet Tong and all other attendees, the staff were delighted with the level of engagement shown throughout the week.

๐Ÿง— CLIMBING SESSIONS

Our cadets took part in a series of indoor climbing sessions, developing their confidence and technique.

After learning the basics, cadets had the opportunity to practice their new skills on the climbing wall at their own pace. The sessions were a great opportunity to build confidence, try new things and most importantly have fun.

๐Ÿ† LONDON WING FIELD DAY CHAMPIONS ๐Ÿ†

We are delighted to announce that 241 Squadron are the 2026 London Wing Field Day Champions!

Following weeks of training, our cadets competed in the London Wing Field Day at RAF Northolt, competing across stands that are a centre point in RAF culture and importance. They delivered strong performances across the competition, securing 3rd place finishes in Aircraft Recognition, Drill and Ensemble. Ultimately leading to 241 Squadron emerging victorious over 21 squadrons in London Wing.

Congratulations to every cadet and member of staff whose hard work produced this excellent result. A special thank you to Recruits Brady, Denhard, Vida and Simpson on their outstanding contributions throughout the competition even though theyโ€™ve been part of 241 for only a few months.

Hereโ€™s to many more wins going forward!

โ›ฐ๏ธ GOLD DUKE OF EDINBURGH

Flight Sergeants Horner and Ibrahim, Sergeant Mootoosamy and Cadet Gohil completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh expeditions in the Lake District. They climbed 3,000 metres and walked over 52 kilometres during their 4 day expedition, wild camping at Angle Tarn and Grisedale Tarn. Pitching up tents, cooking meals, and journeying completely under their own steam.

Weโ€™re extremely proud of our cadets for demonstrating the highest standard of teamwork and resilience throughout the week. Thank you to the London Wing Adventure Training Team whose commitment enables these achievements.
