The recent fires in Stourbridge have been deeply distressing for our local community. It is completely normal to feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stressed in the days and weeks following an event like this.

How to access support scross the Black Country:

Adult Mental Wellbeing: Access NHS Talking Therapies directly, or speak to your GP. You can self-refer online without seeing a GP first.

Children and Young People: Free, confidential online support and self-help resources are available via the Wysa app and Kooth. Additional support is also available through local Early Help services, Family Hubs, and schools.

At Andys Man Club Wolverhampton, the first question we ask every man who walks through the door is:

“How’s your week been?”

It sounds like a simple question.

But for many men, it’s the first time in a long time that someone has genuinely asked.

Isolation doesn’t always look like someone sitting alone in a dark room.

Sometimes it looks like working from home every day.
Having hundreds of Facebook friends but nobody you would call if you were struggling.
Being surrounded by people, yet feeling completely alone.

Sometimes it’s drifting away from old friends.
Sometimes it’s a marriage or relationship ending.
Sometimes it’s becoming estranged from family.
Sometimes life simply gets busy, and before you know it, weeks have gone by without a proper conversation.

The truth is, many men are isolated without even realising it.

We convince ourselves we’re just independent.
That we’ll sort it ourselves.
That we’ll catch up with people next week.

But isolation has a habit of growing quietly.

When there’s nobody checking in.
When nobody’s asking how you’re really doing.
When nobody notices you’re not yourself.

The weight gets heavier.

That’s why Andys Man Club matters.

Every Monday evening, thousands of men walk through our doors. Some arrive carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. Others come because they’ve realised life is simply better when you don’t face it alone.

Something powerful happens when you’re surrounded by people who genuinely understand.

You realise you’re not the only one.
You laugh again.
You listen.
You talk when you’re ready.
You build friendships.
You start looking forward to Monday nights.

For many men, Andy’s Man Club isn’t just somewhere they attend.

It’s where isolation ends.

Because no man should have to carry life’s battles alone.

So let us ask you the same question we ask every man who walks through our doors:

How’s your week been?

And if the honest answer is, “Not great,” or “I’ve been struggling,” then perhaps it’s time to walk through our doors.

Any man aged 18 and over is welcome every Monday (excluding Bank Holidays), 7:00pm-9:00pm (doors open from 6:30pm) at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park WV10 9RU
