This World Mental Health Day, let's commit to listening with intention, talking with honesty, supporting with compassion, and transforming with purpose.

Let’s build a system where your background does not determine the quality of care you receive, where every voice has value, and where lived experience helps drive lasting change.

Listen to understand. Talk to challenge. Support to empower. Transform to tackle inequalities.

Because meaningful change begins when we listen — and becomes real when we act.

Did you know that South Asians are at a significantly higher risk for heart disease, often developing it a decade earlier than other groups? 💔

Our culture is built on love, family, and celebration—but this World Heart Day, the best way to care for your family is to care for your own health. It’s time to focus on the hidden risks we can’t see from the outside.

Protecting your heart doesn’t mean giving up your heritage. It means making small, powerful changes to your daily routine:

* 🍳 Reimagine the kitchen: Swap ghee for olive or canola oil. Cut back on white rice and maida, and choose fiber-rich millets or whole grains instead.

* 🚶‍♂️ Get moving: Household chores aren’t enough. Commit to 30 minutes of brisk, intentional movement 5 days a week—like a family walk or a fast-paced dance.

* 🩺 Know your numbers: If you are over 25, book a routine checkup. Don’t wait for symptoms to track your blood pressure, cholesterol, and HbA1c.

* 🧘‍♂️ Pause and breathe: Dedicate 10 minutes a day to quiet meditation to lower stress and protect your blood pressure.

Let’s rewrite the story of South Asian heart health together. ❤️✨

🧣 Winter Warm Appeal — Supporting Families in Need

This winter, Brother Hobby Rahman is supporting the Mina Foundation as part of its Winter Warm Appeal, helping local vulnerable families facing the growing pressures of the cost of living, ill health and poverty.

For many individuals and families, winter brings difficult choices between heating, health, putting food on the table, and keeping children warm. ❤️

The appeal aims to provide winter care packs containing essential items to help people through the colder months and bring a little warmth, kindness and reassurance to those who need it most.

We’re asking our friends, family and wider community to come together and support this important cause.

Every donation, no matter the size, can make a meaningful difference.

🙏 Please consider donating and sharing the GoFundMe page.

Your support could mean so much for a family who needs it.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) recently held a call for evidence—its first major review in 50 years—to look at modernising earnings limits and reducing cliff-edge overpayment issues. Including:

Earnings Limit & Taper: Examining alternatives to the strict "cliff edge" where earning even a penny over the threshold loses a claimant the entire allowance.
Varying Incomes: Improving predictability and calculations for workers with fluctuating or irregular hours.

Study Rules: Reviewing the 21-hour study limit that restricts young and adult learners from combining education with caring.

Benefit Interactions: Assessing how Carer's Allowance coordinates alongside Universal Credit and other support.

The primary benefit of this comprehensive review is the opportunity to remove structural barriers that penalise unpaid carers. It seeks to shift the system from one of strict enforcement to one that actively supports carers.

We look forward to change and better outcomes for carers.

Alhamdullilah-We’re proud to support Jamia Masjid Aqsa Wolverhampton grassroots
Aqsa Youth Games at Peace Green Park which brought young boys together through sport, friendship and positive community spirit. 🏆🌿

The games created a safe and welcoming space for all to stay active, build confidence, develop teamwork and make new connections.

Beyond competition of wresting, sprints and push ups, the day highlighted the power of sport, wellbeing and mutual respect.

A big thank you to volunteers and sponsors The Shroud Store Meat & Eat Malik Butchers who helped make the event a success. We look forward to bigger games next year!

Together, we’re creating stronger, healthier and more connected communities. 💚
