The Real Junk Food Project Wolverhampton / Wolves Waste Not Our first step to achieve this challenging task is to intercept perfectly edible food that would otherwise not make it to plate and serve it as healthy meals.

We use surplus produce destined for landfill, distribute it at our Surplus Food Markets and, cooked into delicious meals, at our Pop-up Cafes on a Pay As You Feel basis Inspired by The Real Junk Food Project, Wolves Waste Not is a collaborative effort between catering professionals and activists to bring about a radical change in our food system. As well as the positive environmental impacts of reducing edible food waste the project also has clear social benefits through operating a strictly Pay-as-you-feel (PAYF) policy. PAYF offers an alternative to the conventional the payment system as there is no price on any produce at our market or at our pop-up cafés. Our system transcends monetary transactions and liberates people to use their skills and attributes as well as money to pay for their meals. Furthermore, we aim to highlight the absurdity that the produce we use has been stripped of its monetary value but still retains its nutritional value. By making people think about what they wish to contribute for their meals, the idea is to get society thinking about how they value food as a resource. It is estimated that 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted globally each year, this amounts to nearly 40% of global production, this occurs for a multitude of reasons that vary between regions. In the U.K studies have shown that we waste over 15 million tons of edible food annually due to stringent and confusing food safety legislation.

A Million Acts of Hope is a national invitation to celebrate the everyday acts of kindness, care and connection happening across the UK. At a time when division can feel loud, we want to bring together all these everyday acts of hope and shine a light on the people and communities making them happen.

Week of Action: 13-20 May 4 From 13-20th May, events will take place across the country, celebrating positive actions among communities. During this week, hundreds of charities, faith groups, and community groups will inspire their supporters to get involved. Visit https://millionactsofhope.org to see all the projects joining in.

As part of this Week of Action we will be holding a pop-up Surplus Food Market on Thursday 14th May between 3pm - 6pm (our morning market will be open as normal)

In May 2026, community and faith groups, plus charities big and small, will come together to celebrate and inspire A Million Acts of Hope across Britain. There is far more that connects us than divides us.
