☀️ Extreme heat forecast this week - please take care

An amber weather warning for extreme heat has been issued for Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures expected to rise above 30°C, and potentially even higher later in the week.

At the moment, The Hub will remain open as normal wherever possible, and activities will continue unless organisers tell you otherwise.

That said, we know the building can get very warm in hot weather, particularly as we don’t have air conditioning throughout the centre.

We’d encourage everyone to consider whether attending your usual activity is right for you, particularly if you are older, have underlying health conditions, or are sensitive to heat.

Please make sure you:

💧 Bring plenty to drink
🧢 Dress cool and comfortable
🌤️ Take it easy during the hottest parts of the day

Our café opening hours may also change during the hottest periods, so please bear with us.

Most importantly, look after yourself and don’t take risks in the heat.

Stay safe, stay cool, and look out for one another 💛

🌱 All this sunshine and rain has worked wonders for our wildflower garden!

A year since we planted up the bank at the front of the building, the area is thriving with flora and fauna.

Here's what we've spotted so far:

Poppies

Ox-eyed Daisies

White Campion

Calendula

Cornflower

Ragwort

Herb Robert

Cat's ear (false dandelion)

Cranesbill

Common knapweed

Meadow Foxtail

Oh, and thanks for keeping off the grass 😘

This week we hosted a retirement celebration for outgoing Wednesfield North councillor Rita Potter, who is stepping down after 16 years of dedicated service as one of our ward councillors.

Rita has been a familiar face around The Hub since its very beginnings and played a key role in helping to secure the funding that made the project a reality. Without her support, we simply wouldn't have the fantastic community facility that serves local people today.

Everyone at Ashmore Park Community Association would like to wish Rita a very happy retirement and say a huge thank you for her support, commitment and friendship over the past 16 years.

Enjoy your well-earned retirement, Rita! 💐🎉

Today we said goodbye to Carol Cooper (left), one of our cleaners who has worked for the City of Wolverhampton Council for 42 years and retires this week.

We'd like to say a big thanks to Carol for her hard work over the years. The unseen work is often some of the most important work taking place to keep facilities like ours running day to day.
