☀️ Another very hot couple of days ahead

Temperatures are expected to climb above 30°C on Wednesday and Thursday, with an amber warning for extreme heat in place for Thursday.

As most of The Hub doesn’t have air conditioning, the building can get very warm in this kind of weather. If you’re due to attend or run a regular activity, please consider the heat and whether it’s sensible for you to come along.

If you do visit us, please take a few simple steps to look after yourself:

💧 Bring a bottle of water and drink regularly
👕 Wear loose, comfortable clothing
🌤️ Take things a little easier than usual
🪑 If you start to feel unwell, stop what you’re doing, rest and let someone know

Please look after yourselves — and keep an eye out for each other too. 💚

We’ll be open as usual wherever possible, but please bear with us if the hot weather affects any of our usual activities or services.

🌹 Our David Austin roses are looking beautiful at The Hub!

With the recent sad news of the death of David J. C. Austin, we thought it was a fitting time to share a few photos of the beautiful David Austin roses currently blooming in our gardens.

With David Austin Roses based just down the road in Albrighton, there’s a lovely local connection too.

They’re certainly putting on a show at the moment, bringing plenty of colour and fragrance to The Hub gardens. 🌹🌿

A beautiful reminder of a remarkable local legacy.

☀️ The hot weather is sticking around...

With another warm week ahead and temperatures expected to reach the high 20s and low 30s, we'd like to remind everyone to take care when visiting The Hub.

While we'll be open as normal wherever possible, the building can get very warm as we don't have air conditioning throughout.

If you're joining us this week, please remember to:

💧 Bring a bottle of water and stay hydrated

🧢 Wear light, comfortable clothing

🌤️ Take regular breaks if you need them

❤️ Listen to your body - it's absolutely fine to take things at your own pace

If you notice someone who might be struggling in the heat, please check in with them or let a member of staff know.

Let's all look after ourselves and each other while the hot weather is with us.

Stay safe and keep cool! ☀️💛

Some highlights from The Hub's work for this year's Wednesfield in Bloom entry. Please excuse the drunken scarecrow. He got a bit carried away with the excitement of the judging day!

We have some very talented crafters!

The Cinnabar moths love the ragwort in our wildflower garden. These caterpillars will soon turn into beautiful red and black moths!

What shall we do with the drunken scarecrow?? 😂

"Nothing to see here. I am absolutely fine!"

The pallet garden tended by the Day Opportunities group is looking as beautiful as it always does.

Gym Santa even got in on the act, thanks to Julianne's neighbour 👍🏻

We're all set for Wednesfield in Bloom judging day today! The Britain in Bloom judges will be arriving at The Hub this morning before setting off around Ashmore Park and Wednesfield to see the fantastic work the In Bloom volunteers have been doing over the past few months.

We'd like to say a massive thank you to everybody that has helped at The Hub, making the grounds look top notch for the arrival of the judges, and fingers crossed for Wednesfield in Bloom to get yet another gold award this year!
