Today, on National Foodbank Day, we want to shine a light on something that can often be overlooked when we talk about domestic abuse: access to food.

For over five years, Kaleidoscopic UK has provided fresh foodbanks within our Sanctuary groups, because we know that simply supporting someone to access a traditional foodbank doesn't always reflect the reality of their circumstances.

For many survivors, there can be significant barriers to accessing traditional foodbanks, including transport, finances, childcare, anxiety, isolation, controlling behaviour, fear of judgement and the practical realities of trying to navigate services while surviving abuse and financial/economic abuse even post separation.

That is why, within our Sanctuary spaces, we aim to make support accessible, dignified and survivor-led.

Our fresh foodbanks enable survivors and families to access essential fresh and dry food alongside connection, peer support and a safe, welcoming space without judgement and without having to explain or justify why they need help.

And now, thanks to Bracknell Forest Council we have been enabled to expand this provision, allowing us to reach and support even more survivors and families who may otherwise face barriers to accessing food support.

We are incredibly grateful for this investment in practical, compassionate support.

This provision has also previously been supported through funding from The National Lottery Community Fund and Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley
which helped us establish and sustain this vital work over previous years as well as Wokingham United Charities and Berkshire Community Foundation for pur Christmas food hampers.

Because at Kaleidoscopic UK, we believe support must meet survivors where they are recognising the whole reality of their lives, not simply the presenting crisis.

💜 Food is not a luxury.
💜 Safety is not a luxury.
💜 Dignity is not a luxury.

This is what survivor-led, threshold-free support looks like in practice.

Meeting need. Removing barriers. Restoring dignity. Changing lives. 💜

Team WAVE MAKERS are excited to be taking part again in the upcoming Wokingham Lions Club Swimathon! 🌊

Every length we swim is about so much more than fundraising. It’s about creating change, rebuilding lives and making sure survivors and their families can access specialist, long-term support when they need it.

We’re swimming for fellow survivors who have had to start again.
For the children growing up affected by abuse.
For the families rebuilding their lives.
For the futures that deserve to look different. ✨

And we’d LOVE for you to get behind Team Kaleidoscopic UK by sponsoring our swimmers. 🙌

💙 Every pound raised helps us continue our survivor-led, specialist support and create opportunities for recovery, connection and hope.

Your support can also help us provide our Christmas hampers, bringing a little extra warmth, dignity and joy to families who may otherwise face an incredibly difficult Christmas. 🎄🎁

This isn’t just a swim.
It’s every stroke towards a safer, stronger future. 🏊‍♀️✨

If you can sponsor our team, no matter how big or small, you’ll be helping us turn fundraising into real, long-term change.

💙 Sponsor Team Kaleidoscopic UK.
💙 Help us keep swimming for survivors.
💙 Help us create change that lasts.

For many survivors putting everyone else first can become a survival response. You may have spent so long caring for others, managing crises and simply getting through each day that your own needs became invisible.

YOU matter too.

Healing doesn’t have to look a certain way. Sometimes it’s resting. Sometimes it’s laughing with friends, getting outside, creating something, asking for support or simply giving yourself permission to breathe.

At Kaleidoscopic UK, we created support available for as long as it’s needed, without thresholds or judgement. Our survivor-led, long-term support recognises the whole person and unique needs.

🌱 You deserve time to heal.
💜 You deserve support.
✨ You deserve happiness.

Looking after yourself isn’t selfish. It’s part of reclaiming your life...LOVE you and take care of you, there is only one of you!

Some of our Kaleidoscopic UK team were lucky enough to spend time at Reading and Leeds Festival
this weekend, surrounded by music, connection, energy and some truly incredible artists. 🎶

A massive mention to RAYE whose words about hope, self belief and never giving up were so beautifully and powerfully spoken and needed!!

Sometimes, when life has knocked you down again and again, hope can feel like a distant thing especially as survivors.

Sometimes surviving is simply about getting through the next hour, the next day, the next moment.

But hope doesn't always have to be loud.

It's believing that your story isn't over.

It's allowing yourself to laugh again.
To sing again.
To dance again.
To dream again.
To find your people.
To discover parts of yourself that you thought had been lost.

And most importantly, to remember that what has happened to you does not get to define the rest of your life!!

We also want to celebrate every incredible artist who took to the stages and created moments of joy, freedom and connection for thousands of people.

At Kaleidoscopic UK, we know that healing is never linear and everyone's journey is different..

Keep going.
Keep believing.
Keep hoping.
Never give up on the possibility of a better tomorrow.

Because sometimes, the smallest spark of hope can become the beginning of something extraordinary.

We see you.

The one who gets up, gets dressed, answers the messages, goes to work, looks after the children, supports everyone else all while carrying things that nobody else can see.

The one who smiles when their heart is heavy.

The one who says “I’m fine” because explaining how they really feel feels too exhausting.

The one who has cried, struggled, doubted themselves and felt like giving up but somehow, keeps putting one foot in front of the other.

That isn't weakness!

Being strong doesn't mean you have to pretend you're okay.

You are allowed to have difficult days.
You are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to ask for help.
You are allowed to not have all the answers.

Your story is still being written...

You've got this and we've got you, whenever needed!

Today was about pressing pause.

Watching the sunrise at the beach, breathing in the fresh sea air, grounding ourselves in the moment, paddling in the water, spending time with friends… and, importantly, laughing. Lots of laughing. 💕

For survivors, taking time for ourselves can sometimes feel difficult. We can become so focused on surviving, supporting others, managing responsibilities and simply getting through each day that our own needs slip further and further down the list.

But rest isn't selfish.
Joy isn't frivolous.
Connection matters.
And laughter really can be restorative. 🌻

At Kaleidoscopic UK, we talk so much about the importance of self-care, grounding, connection and creating space to heal — and today we reminded ourselves that we need to practise what we preach too.

Because we cannot pour from an empty cup. ❤️

Sometimes filling your cup looks like therapy or support. Sometimes it looks like a quiet walk. Sometimes it looks like sitting beside the sea with people who make you feel safe, laughing until your cheeks hurt.

Whatever it looks like for you, you deserve moments that aren't about surviving. You deserve moments that are simply about living. ✨

Today we chose the sunrise, the sea, friendship, fresh air and laughter.

And our cups feel a little fuller because of it. 💛🌊
