Supporting our community.

We're working hard to to reconnect with our communities and support local initiatives. So when we heard that 1st Knaphill Scout Group needed a banger and a burger for their annual fireworks display, we just had to lend a hand!

Thank you to everyone who came to our 1st Knaphill Scouts Spectacular Fireworks Display last night, we all had an amazing time. Thank you to MLE Pyrotechnics Limited, Cronos Protection, Team Medic, King Whippy Surrey, Porky Whites and Woking Council. Biggest thank yous to all the 1st Knaphill Scout Group volunteers - leaders, parents, families and young people without whom the event would never be able to take place. See you next November!!

It's just 2 days until the 1st Knaphill Scouts Spectacular Fireworks Display and the weather forecast is looking promising! With Bonfire Night almost upon us, here is some useful information:

🎆 Noise from fireworks is generally considered transitory and sporadic and does not typically meet the threshold for a statutory nuisance. In the UK, the supply and public possession of consumer fireworks (Category 3) that produce a maximum noise level exceeding 120 decibels are prohibited.

🎆 You must not set off or throw fireworks (including sparklers) in the street or other public places.

🎆 You must not set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am.
The exceptions are:
> Bonfire Night, when the cut off is midnight
> New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, when the cut off is 1am

🎆 You can be fined an unlimited amount and imprisoned for up to 6 months for selling or using fireworks illegally. You could also get an on-the-spot fine of £90.

🎆 Get more bang for your buck by attending an organised event. Follow Woking District Rotary and 1st Knaphill Scout Group for details of their displays this coming Saturday (8 November).

1st Knaphill Group (Squirrels 3yo- Scouts 14yo) are in desperate need for volunteers:

Assistant Scout Leaders (Some Weds evenings 1915- 2045 term time), no exp needed at all but just curious to learn and happy being as daft as 10-14yos!

*Group roles are typically for a 3 year term and the team meet termly to discuss the running of the group, review money/fundraising etc. You don't do the doing of scouts (unless you want to!) but if you have any business experience you can bring that is super helpful.

If you or someone you know would be open to chatting with us about how they can help, we'd be very grateful for their time and an introduction. It doesn't need to be you, it could be grandparents who want to keep themselves busy, using brains and being purposeful.
