✨October's Featured Artists✨

Discover the best local artists in Surrey at Lightbox Gallery in our ground floor gallery shop! Have a look at a few of our favourite picks this month.

Fran McCaskill
Fran trained as a graphic designer and has over 20 years commercial design experience. Her real passion for design in any media translates directly into her work, experimenting with wire, wood, metal and glass to create her original hand-crafted designs.

Martin Stephenson
Martin lives on the edge of Exmoor in his native North Devon with his work inspired by the themes and forms of nature, the art and architecture of Dali and Gaudi and the Arts and Crafts movement. The timber is sourced either from storm-felled local trees or from suppliers who are registered on the RPP scheme, an internationally recognised environmental due diligence system.

Monica Palmer
Surrey artist Monica Palmer has a small workshop at home where she designs and creates jewellery, mostly in sterling silver. She enjoys working in a geometric style and using various fold-forming and casting techniques.

🌊Khadija Cecile Niang: There are people who belong to the sea🌊
10 October - 3 January 2027

A new exhibition of works by Khadija Cecile Niang alongside selection from The Ingram Collection.

Khadija Cecile Niang presents a new body of work exploring the sea as a space where labour and leisure coexist. Drawing from a visit to N'Gor Island in Senegal, where she witnessed surfers and fishermen sharing fishing boats to reach the waves, Niang is curious about how coastal communities’ relationship to the sea shapes their understanding of work, time, and rest.

Alongside these new works, Niang has selected works from The Ingram Collection, engaging with the history of painting the sea in Britain and interrogating how a life shaped by the sea might, in turn, shape one's relationship to the world.

Drawing For Adults

Full Day Printmaking Workshop with Jo Boddy

17 October, 10:15am-16:15pm

It’s often said that printmaking is where craft meets art. Come and explore the craft of carving lino to create an original artwork. Under the guidance of local printmaker Jo Boddy you not only experience the thrill of peeling your own print back from a plate you have cut, but will take the next steps in linocut printmaking and add a second colour.

This workshop will include printing by hand burnishing and there will be a small relief press available to share.

We recommend you bring an apron or old shirt to protect clothes as we will be using oil-based inks. You may like to bring an idea of a subject or design with you, but there will be some images for you to choose from should inspiration fail.
