Woking Sea Cadets

Woking Sea Cadets Woking Sea Cadets is a cadet based group which has a nautical theme based on the traditions of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.

We have been in Goldsworth Park since September 2011. We recruit cadets from the age of
10 to 18. We work closely with schools in the Woking Area. We offer training such as Kayaking,
Rowing, Powerboating and Sailing. We also officer such courses as Engineering, Seamanship,
Cook Steward, Physical Training and much more. The Sea Cadets offer such opportunitites as Offshore
sailing and power, Duke o

f Edinburough Award Scheme and NVQ qualifications. The Royal Marines Cadets are a military skilled based cadet group. They take part in all the activities
the Sea Cadets do but also train in feildcraft and military skills.

Our visit to Brooklands Museum in February has been published in the summer edition of the Brooklands Magazine... what a great reminder of the fantastic evening our cadets had there!

At Sunday's Brookwood Last Post ceremony, one of our Junior Cadets — aged just 10 — faultlessly read the Kohima in front of a gathered audience. BZ, JC James!

This is exactly why we encourage our cadets to take part in events like this. The Sea Cadets isn't just about seamanship and ceremony: it's about building the confidence to stand up and be heard. Seeing it in action at ten years old is something special.

Cadets and volunteers from TS Dianthus set up a stand at the Dragon Boat Races and Family Fun Day at Goldsworth Park today, to raise awareness of the unit and support recruitment. From the looks of it, they all had a brilliant time!

BZ to everyone involved, and a special mention to PO(SCC) Read for organising. 🌊⚓

Despite this afternoon's heat and little shade, the cadets and staff from Woking Sea Cadets and Camberley Sea Cadets performed superbly during the US Memorial Day Ceremony at Brookwood American Cemetery, with great feedback from the American Battle Monuments Commission, VIPs and others. BZ to you all!

Big news for our cadet community! 🎉

The government has announced the first ever National Cadets Week, running 5–11 October 2026 — and it falls right in half-term week!

It's a chance for cadet units across the UK to open their doors and show what the cadet experience is really about. If you're a cadet or a cadet parent/carer, you already know the answer to that ... but National Cadets Week is our opportunity to share it with everyone else.

Watch out for details of how TS Dianthus will be taking part. Whether that's outreach activities, community events, or simply flying the flag for what our cadets achieve every week, we want to make it count.

More details to follow as October approaches. In the meantime, share this post and help spread the word! 📣

BZ to our cadets and staff who supported this morning’s St George’s Day service at St Peter’s Church in Old Woking, attended by the Mayor of Woking and the Woking Branch of the Royal Naval Association.

A smart turnout, with plenty of good feedback from the Vicar and others ⚓️
