Proud to share that one of our own, Junior Cadet James, read the Kohima Epitaph at last month's Brookwood Last Post ceremony — delivered with real confidence, and clearly enjoyed by him too. ** Southern Area Summer Camp - Polo Shirts **

For cadets that have been accepted onto the Southern Area Summer Camp in August, we are providing each cadet with a branded Southern Area polo shirt at no additional cost, and we need to place the order next week.

Please send us the cadet’s polo shirt size — using the attached sizing guide — by Friday 24th July to [email protected].

Please also include the cadet’s full name and Sea Cadet Unit.

We're increasing our green credentials! ⚡

This evening we replaced the petrol outboard on one of our Rigiflex safety boats with a new ePropulsion Spirit 2 — a 2kW battery-integrated electric outboard, roughly equivalent to a 5-6 HP petrol motor.

Operating on the lake, we're keen to avoid petrol and oil pollution, and hoping for lower maintenance costs too.

We'll be assessing the Spirit 2's capability over the coming weeks, and monitoring charging and maintenance requirements throughout the season.

On its first outing, PO(SCC) Read commented: "It's so quiet. The throttle response is much quicker than a petrol engine, so it'll take a little getting used to — but so far, I really like it."

Our visit to Brooklands Museum in February has been published in the summer edition of the Brooklands Magazine... what a great reminder of the fantastic evening our cadets had there!
