‘Psychological services should be Police Care UK’s priority.’

That was the clear message from more than 2,100 serving and veteran police officers, staff, and family members who took part in our 2025 Service Demand Survey.

91% said they or a loved one had experienced harm through policing, while 53% said trauma had a major impact on their lives.

In response, last year we delivered over 5,000 therapy sessions, expanded our Clinical Services, and broadened our Financial Assistance Grants Programme.

Now we need your help. Just 15 minutes to complete our 2026 Service Demand Survey will help shape the future of care at Police Care UK.

Police Care UK volunteers put in a marathon effort as they appeared at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow last month.

Regular supporters Andy Fairie and Gary Mackie spent EIGHT DAYS between them at the largest multi-sport event to be held in the UK this year.

The pair went the extra ‘four-minute' mile as they hosted a Police Care UK awareness stand at Clyde Gateway in Dalmarnock - Police Scotland’s staging post for the police and security operation.

Andy and Gary, who himself attended seven days, ensured the stand in the exhibitors hall was manned for all but three of the 11 days of competition.

Thank You!!!

Moving into further or higher education can be an exciting next step. But for young people from police families affected by harm, the financial pressures that often come with education can add extra challenges at an already demanding time.

Costs such as course fees, books, equipment and travel can quickly add up, making it harder to access opportunities and focus on learning.

Our Education Bursaries are available to eligible young people aged 16 and over. They are designed to help ease financial pressure, support wellbeing and confidence, and enable young people to make the most of their educational opportunities.

Wednesday, 12 August 2026 marked the 60th anniversary of the Braybrook Street murders, a tragedy that changed the lives of three families and continues to be remembered across the policing community.

Our CEO Geoff Cheshire and Chair Dr Ravi Rana joined surviving family members, friends and policing colleagues at a memorial ceremony to honour the officers' memory at the site where they lost their lives.

For Police Care UK, this anniversary carries particular significance. The public response to the deaths of the three officers led to the creation of the Police Dependant’s Trust, an organisation that would later merge with the National Police Fund to become Police Care UK.

Our roots lie in a collective determination to support police families affected by harm and loss and we’re still working hard today to support UK police and their families.

Former Chancellor Roy Jenkins famously described Inheritance Tax as:

"A voluntary levy paid by those who distrust their heirs more than they dislike the Inland Revenue."

Careful estate planning can often reduce or even eliminate a family's liability and a review today could save your family thousands of pounds in the future.

On Sunday, our Chair of Trustees, Dr Ravi Rana, and Engagement Officer, Dave Blundell, attended the Care Of Police Survivors (COPS) Service of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum. We were honoured to lay a wreath in memory of those who died on duty.

Ravi said: "It was a privilege to join families and the wider policing community to remember the lives of those who gave theirs to secure ours.

“The service was both deeply moving and uplifting, and it was an honour for Police Care UK to stand alongside and support the policing community."

The July edition of our monthly newsletter is OUT NOW featuring CEO Geoff Cheshire’s panel discussion at The Blue Light Show, advocating a joined up approach to protecting police wellbeing.

This month we are asking for your feedback on services and support available to those in the UK policing community, to help us know where we need to be doing more and how we can continue to make a difference.

We also meet Police Care UK Champion Danni and discover her reasons for supporting the Charity’s work.
