After 7 1/2 years with us and taking part in our first ever workshop in March 2019, saying farewell to Lettie and Luke last night was particularly poignant and extremely emotional - for everyone! Lots of hugs and tears and happy memories shared.đź’ś
At just 15 when she joined, Lettie has been in every musical, play, showcase, Festival entry and film project we have done - hence the extremely large framed collage of photos we made for her with memories of her time with us! To say WYT won't be the same without her is an understatement.
The incredible diverse range of roles she has has done is truly amazing and she has risen to the challenge every time with her dedication and incredible work ethic - from her first role as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, our first ever WYT musical back in June 2019, to her stunning portrayal of Mr Orange in our stage adaptation of Reservoir Dogs, Clare in The Breakfast Club, the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland and the titular role in Bugsy Malone, with far too many more to mention!
One of the highlights was her role as Bonnie in Bonnie and Clyde, with Luke as Clyde. An exceptional performance in a fantastic production and the perfect pairing with Luke. We couldn't have been more proud of her and the show.
And how apt that her final musical appearance with us came full circle earlier this year as Audrey in our Little Shop of Horrors revival.
With the amazing grounding she received at WYT, she is currently working towards a degree in Acting for Stage and Screen at UEL in London including a focus on filmmaking, a passion she has developed through the many WYT films she has made with us. We can't wait to see what she does next!!
Luke was only 14 when he first joined us, and it has been an absolute privilege to watch his confidence grow as a performer. After starting with a small walk-on role as a customer in our 2019 production of Little Shop of Horrors, he too came full circle earlier this year, brilliantly taking on the lead role of Seymour in our recent Little Shop revival.
Along the way, he has taken on a number of wonderfully diverse characters both on stage and in our films (too many to mention!), the highlights being Fizzy in Bugsy Malone, delivering an absolutely unforgettable performance as Mr White in Reservoir Dogs, the March Hare in Alice in Wonderland, Gloom in The Cagebirds (for which he received a best youth actor nomination at the Woking Drama Festival) and being absolutely exceptional as Clyde in Bonnie and Clyde. That show really was a high point and his performance was one we were incredibly proud of.
Like Lettie, his dedication and work ethic has been exceptional and we will miss him immensely. It won't be the same without him.
