Press release

We have exciting news! Arab Research & Advocacy Bureau (ARAB) is returning under a new name.

Founded in 2016, ARAB provided research and analysis by experts on Arab communities.

We had some key successes, reaching 400,000 visits per month on our website, and providing bespoke research for the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS).

We are also very grateful for everyone's continued engagement with our social media pages!

However, the scope of the project became untenable given our small team and limited budget. So, we decided to take a break…

Introducing MGRB

We are now returning under the name Maghrebi Geopolitical Research Bureau (MGRB), with a much more refined and manageable scope.

The Maghreb (or المغرب, meaning “the west” in Arabic) is a subregion of North Africa whose nations share a broadly similar language, culture and history. These nations are Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia and the disputed Western Sahara.

MGRB will provide credible insights on key socioeconomic indicators affecting the Maghreb region.

Our initial three services will be free to access on our website (themgrb.org) from January 2026:

1. Dictionary: definitions of regional terms.
2. Country data: interactive regional statistics.
3. Opinion polls: regional survey insights.

All insights are critically analysed by qualified and experienced social scientists referencing a wide range of reputable sources.

This data will be summarised and presented in a uniquely accessible, user-friendly and interactive format for anybody seeking insights on Maghrebi geopolitics.

Stay tuned for more updates…
