Every refurbished bike our Surrey Bike Bank team gives out represents an opportunity for someone to be more active and independent.

This lovely feedback reminds us why we do what we do:

"My son Jamie is so happy with his bike that he wanted me to share with you a photo and video of it in action!

Even the heat over the past couple of days hasn't put him off riding it around the park so thank you again from both of us!!!

He is also very much looking forward to us all being able to go out cycling together!!"

A huge thank you to Jamie and his family for sharing. Stories like this show the difference having a bike can make. 🚲❤️

Walking is one of the easiest ways to increase the amount of physical activity you do per day.

Our pop-up Bugs & Blooms Trail in Chertsey is on until 13 September to keep you motivated.

We’ve combined physical activity, art and plants to make getting out and about even more fun and rewarding. 🦋🌻

Can you cycle to work tomorrow? 🚲

Thursday 6 August is Cycle to Work Day and it's a great opportunity to swap your car for a bike.

Cycling to work can help you save money, boost your mood, improve your fitness and reduces carbon footprint.

Even cycling part of your journey can make a difference.

Travelling actively to work is something our Active Surrey team can support businesses with long term.

The second year of our ‘Be Your Best’ (BYB) programme has now completed and we are so pleased with the results and feedback we’ve received.

Our BYB team work hard to deliver nutrition and healthy lifestyle training to families and health professionals across Surrey.

The results from this year speak for themselves:

🍏 73% of children have stabilised or reduced BMI at 26 weeks.
🚶‍♂️ 75% of children have increased knowledge of healthy eating & physical activity at 26 weeks.
🙂 65% of children have improved or maintained self-esteem at 26 weeks.

Establishing healthy eating habits from an early age can be a key factor in preventing obesity and related health problems later in life.

To find out more about our BYB programme, head to www.bybsurrey.org.

Get active by the water this summer 🌊

The new Movement in Blue Spaces Playbook created by Swim England and Sport England for Active Partnerships, celebrates the benefits of being active in, on and around water while encouraging more people to access these spaces safely and confidently.

Here in Surrey, we're fortunate to have many types of beautiful blue spaces. So many rivers, lakes, canals, community pools, and not far from the south coast.

Before you head out:
☀️ Check weather conditions
🦺 Wear the right equipment
👫 Go with others where possible
🏊 Use appropriate swimming locations
🌿 Respect the environment and leave no rubbish

Read the Playbook here:https://activepartnerships.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/CWSA-Playbook-Final-230426.pdf

Enjoy the water, stay safe, and make the most of Surrey's blue spaces this summer.
