We are devastated over the loss of Pride friend and community activist, Kevin. May his legacy of celebration and bringing the community together live on ❤️🌈

Kevin Coyle, the founder of Drag Bus, passed away unexpectedly yesterday. Kevin launched Drag Bus in 2023, transforming a classic red Routemaster into a celebration of drag, cabaret and community. What began as a limited run of events quickly grew into a nationally recognised brand, bringing drag br...

💛 Happy Nonbinary Parents Day! 💜

Today, on the 19th of April, we celebrate and recognise the incredible nonbinary parents, carers, and guardians who help make Surrey’s families stronger, more loving, and wonderfully diverse.

At Surrey County Council Fostering Service, we know that great foster carers come from all walks of life. Your identity doesn’t define your ability to provide stability, compassion, and support , your heart does! 💛

Nonbinary parents and carers bring unique strengths, perspectives and experiences to the fostering community, and today we honour everything you give to the children and young people you support.

Celebrating our ACE family on International Asexuality Day

It is important to remember that asexual people are part of every community, and as asexual voices often continue to be marginalised, it is important we use today to centre the experiences of asexual people 💜🤍🩶🖤

As proud members of the UK Pride Organisers Network, Pride in Surrey echoes the disappointment and frustration following the recent decision made by Girlguiding Board of Trustees to ban trans individuals. Decisions like this matter, especially when they affect organisations that play such an important role in young people’s lives.

Statement from UK Pride Organisers Network

We’re extremely disappointed and frustrated by Girlguiding’s recent decision, particularly given that UKPON, alongside some of our member Pride organisations, met directly with their leadership and taskforce to share clear, evidence-based insight from our communities.

We took part in those conversations in good faith, bringing the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people from across the UK into the room. It is therefore deeply frustrating to see an outcome that fails to reflect the inclusive approach we consistently and unequivocally advocated for.
Pride exists because LGBTQ+ people have too often been excluded from spaces that should have been safe and welcoming, and that’s still the reality for many, particularly trans and non-binary young people. Decisions like this matter, especially when they affect organisations that play such an important role in young people’s lives.

We know this will feel disheartening for many. To trans and non-binary young people in particular: you are seen, you are valued, and you deserve to feel safe being yourself in every space.

We’ll keep working with Pride organisers across the UK to push for inclusion, challenge decisions that fall short, and make sure all LGBTQ+ voices are part of the conversation.
