Since moving into his first flat after leaving the family home, A***n has been enjoying greater independence and exploring local attractions.

Despite having a visual impairment, he doesn't let anything hold him back. He's also a keen blind cricket player and recently enjoyed practising his skills with Support Workers.

The competition is open to all our customers and is an opportunity for you to flex your art skills. The closing date for the competition is 10th November

It was fantastic to be out in the community at a local job fair in Dorset, meeting new people and sharing what it means to be a Support Worker.

We had some great conversations, made new connections and highlighted the rewarding impact support work can have on people's lives.

World Mental Health Day is one that Advance always makes a point of recognising, and this year's theme feels especially relevant to our work providing housing and support to our customers.

We absolutely believe that "Support Starts with Being Heard" which is why we do our best to involve customers at every level, from personal decisions about their housing, to customer involvement in hiring choices and strategic planning.

We hope that this World Mental Health Day all our customers know we will always do our best to listen so that we can support them in a way that works for them.

We met up with Simon, one of our customers, to ask him about his experience working at Wildgoose rural training. Based in Worcester Wildgoose is a care farm offering a huge range of outdoor training opportunities to adults and young people. Simon has been working at Wildgoose for about 3 years.

The experience has been fantastic for Simon who shared "I love doing the woodwork with Dan. On a Monday I do woodworking and on Fridays I work in Bonnie's [the tearooms]. It's built my confidence amazingly and helped me build a network of friends."

We're so proud that our support helped Simon to find Wildgoose and that his experience working with them has had such an impact on him.

After months of planning, Natalie and Richard finally enjoyed a well-deserved holiday with support workers. They stayed at a holiday park and enjoyed exploring local attractions.

Meanwhile, Erica enjoyed an overnight trip to Southampton, taking in a musical at the Mayflower Theatre and visiting the city's art gallery.

At last month’s tenants meeting, Frank invited fellow tenants to visit him at Spitalfields Farm, where he works. They were happy to take him up on the offer, enjoying a wonderful day out in the sunshine while Frank proudly showed everyone around his workplace.

It was a fantastic opportunity to see Frank share in something that's important to him, and spend time together enjoying the farm. 🐐🐓🌻

October is a month for spooky things 🕷👻💀

But one scary thing you want to avoid is finding out your heating isn’t working just when the weather is getting really cold!

Take the opportunity to test your heating before the cold arrives and avoid a scare later on!

Turn the heating on, check your radiators get warm and if you spot any problems let Advance know!

On September 9th, the contractors carrying out energy efficiency works at Michael Ramsay Court teamed up with customers and Advance staff to overhaul the community garden.

Moss, ivy and fallen branches were removed, flowerbeds were tidied, fences painted and new seating built. It was a big job but with everyone pitching in to help the job went smoothly and with a lot of laughs.

The garden has now been transformed from just an outdoor space to somewhere welcoming for the Michael Ramsay Court residents to enjoy.
