But respect to the hard-working Thames Water staff, as always - and contempt for the profiteers at the top. Let's end that scam.

Accompanied by Baroness Jenny Jones of the House of Lords and Feargal Sharkey, WASP's Prof Peter Hammond and Ash Smith delivered by hand the message that the government is trying to ignore -

Our call on the Environment Secretary to stop the lies coming out of her department and put out a true statement to respond to the petition, not the untrue one they have been using to try to deter people from signing.

The big WASP letter was delivered to the Environment Secretary's office - she was in China, we were told.

On Tuesday 9th June, WASP's Peter Hammond and Ash Smith are going to join Feargal Sharkey to hand in WASP's letter to the Secretary of State, Emma Reynolds to ask her to stop the lies coming out of Defra - for example those used to put people off signing the petition for a referendum on water ownership and to prop up the failed privatisation of water.

The water outage by South East Water in Whitstable is harming the local economy, along with Southern Water damaging it with sewage pollution in the sea.

Meanwhile, the shareholders and bosses feed off customers' bills and add nothing of value.

So Canterbury is now hot on the heels of Witney as the top signing constituency for the referendum petition.
