Ok so by now you’ll know that we were awarded not one, but TWO Grade 6 – Excellent ratings in our recent inspection.

But today we’re celebrating another standout part of our inspection:

🔹 Key Question 3: How good is our staff team? — 6 (Excellent!)

Great teams don’t happen by chance. They are intentionally built over time and we know that our PEOPLE make SOL the exceptional organisation it is 🙌🏻 6️⃣ 🥳

Here are some of the highlights from the inspection report on Key Question 3:

✨ “The provider had taken time to reflect postpandemic and consider how best to reimagine the service structure, with a clear focus on strengthening staff recruitment and retention.”

✨ “People using the service and staff benefitted from a warm atmosphere because there were very good working relationships.”

✨ “SOL had excellent staff values and systems in place to support staff wellbeing.”

✨ “Staff understood their role and responded flexibly to changing situations to ensure that care and support was consistent and stable.”

✨ “Staff were confident in building positive interactions and relationships… we received lots of positive feedback about staff.”

✨ “Staff… felt their ideas and opinions were welcomed and would be received in a spirit of partnership working.”

Yesterday we proudly announced that, following our recent Care Inspectorate inspection, we achieved two Grade 6s — ‘Excellent’ - the highest grade any service can receive!

Today, we’re shining a spotlight on:

🌟 Key Question 1: How well do we support people’s wellbeing? — 6 (Excellent!)

Here are just a few of the highlights from our inspection report:

✨ “People's voices had meaningfully shaped decisions and developments, demonstrating a culture where lived experience genuinely influenced practice.”

✨ “The evolution of 'UPTAE?' demonstrated a proactive and responsive approach that had enhanced social connection, wellbeing, and choice for people receiving support.”

✨ “People had been enabled to take control of their own health and wellbeing through access to the technology.”

✨ “SOL had a demonstrable track record of innovative, effective practice and very high-quality performance across a wide range of its activities and from which others could learn.”

A report like this means the world to us. We never forget why we exist. Our Vision, Mission and Values genuinely guide every decision we make and we stay razor focussed on that no matter what challenges come our way 🎯

Stay tuned tomorrow to hear about our officially ‘Excellent’ staff and the amazing work they do 🌟

🌟 Our phenomenal team at SOL & SOL Connect have done it again! 🙌🏻

We’re absolutely delighted to share that following our recent Care Inspectorate inspection, we were awarded two Grade 6s — the highest possible grade a service can achieve!

The inspection focused on the ‘Core Assurances’, and:

🔹 Key Question 1: How well do we support people’s wellbeing? — 6 (Excellent)

🔹 Key Question 3: How good is our staff team? — 6 (Excellent)

For context, the Care Inspectorate uses a sixpoint scale when evaluating quality, where 1 = Unsatisfactory and 6 = Excellent.

A Grade 6 – Excellent is only awarded to services with ‘sector leading’ strengths that deliver consistently positive outcomes for people.

A key message in our report - “SOL and SOL Connect were sector leading and supported experiences for people which were of outstanding high quality” 🙌🏻

We are incredibly proud of our dedicated teams whose commitment, professionalism, and passion make achievements like this possible. 💙

✨ Stay tuned — we’ll be sharing more about how our service was evaluated in the days ahead.

🛡️ Adult Support and Protection Awareness Day 2026 🛡️

On Friday we marked Adult Support and Protection Awareness Day by recognising the vital role learning plays in keeping people safe, informed, and empowered.

At SOL, our Learning & Development team don’t just train our staff to recognise, prevent, and respond to harm — we go further. We also offer learning directly to the people who choose SOL to support them, making sure everyone has the knowledge, confidence and language to understand their rights and recognise when something doesn’t feel okay.

On Friday a group of people we support proudly achieved their Certificate in Understanding Rights. 🌟

Using Open Future Learning’s Side by Side modules, we deliver accessible, meaningful learning opportunities that help people build skills, stay safe, and take an active role in decisions about their own lives.

Adult Support and Protection is everyone’s responsibility!

By learning together, we strengthen wellbeing and safety across our whole community.

Thank you to our L&D team — and congratulations to Iain, Anne, John & Zuleka! 🌟

Our SOL Connect Manager, Kat, and Head of Finance, Tracey, recently got into the festive spirit at a wreath-making workshop, all while supporting a great cause. The event was organised by Morgan, one of our team members, who has just launched her own charity, B Heard.

Morgan’s son was born profoundly deaf, and through B Heard, she hopes to help families access vital communication support like BSL and AVUK funding for children with hearing loss.

Not only did Kat and Tracey create some beautiful Christmas wreaths, but they also supported a really worthwhile new charity.

Good luck with B Heard, Morgan!

We had a lovely time catching up (finally) with our April SOL STAR – Rhianna Thompson 🙌🏻

One of her SOL Connect colleagues nominated her after seeing what her unwavering empathy, encouragement and patience meant for one of the people we support. Her positive relationship with the person assisted her to manage their anxieties to achieve a really positive outcome.

We loved hearing how Rhianna uses her intuition to know when to gently push someone outside their comfort zone and when to back off and give them space.

‘See the world from different perspectives’ is one of our core values at SOL, and Rhianna’s willingness to step into someone else’s shoes and meet them where they are, makes her a SOL STAR! 🌟

We are so grateful for all of the amazing colleagues we have on our SOL Team 😊

🌟 SOL Star of the Month – September 🌟

It was a pleasure to meet up with our SOL STAR for September, Laura Lindsay. A valued member of our SOL Connect team, who has been with us for nearly 13 years!

Laura has received an incredible 22 Recognition Badges from colleagues who appreciate her ability to stay cool in a crisis and the advice and guidance she offers - a true testament to her dedication, teamwork, and impact.

Her manager nominated her as our September SOL STAR for the outstanding quality of training she’s been delivering to new members of staff. Laura’s attention to detail and passion for getting it right for the people we support makes her an exceptional trainer and one of our best advocates for Technology Enabled Care.

Thank you, Laura, for everything you do. You inspire us all! 💙👏
