Welcome to Wishaw WI. We are a friendly, vibrant WI based in Warwickshire. We meet on the 2nd Monday in the month at 7.30pm at Wishaw Cricket Club, Church Lane, B76 9QH. We have a full schedule of interesting guest speakers and of course cake(!), plus many other activities throughout the month. Everybody is welcome - come and join us and be INSPIRED!

Tuesday evening at the Three Tuns in Henley in Arden saw our team compete in the first round of WI Warwickshire’s Darts Tournament, joined by Bishops Itchington W I. What a lovely bunch of ladies we spent the evening with; very sporting and lots of laughs. Our pairings were very well matched and the results were close, so it could have gone either way. Wishaw won all their 1st round games and Bishop's Itchington won all the 2nd rounds so it went to the decider. Three Wishaw players won their deciders, including a 3 dart finish which secured the win and gave Wishaw the match, but in true sportsmanship, the final pair took to the board, resulting in a win for BI.
The Three Tuns is a traditional pub and very welcoming. It was a lovely venue for the match.

At our meeting this month we welcomed Taylor our speaker, who introduced us to the benefits of self reflexology for stress and pain relief in an interactive session.
Did you know that all parts of your body are represented on your feet, hands, face and ears? By following Sharon’s directions you can relieve yourself of aches and pains, stress, anxiety and fatigue, headaches, and also increase energy, boost your circulatory system whilst promoting a sense of well-being.

Human Bingo…. What a great way to start off our first meeting of the year. Do you know who can do a handstand in your WI or club, who speaks a foreign language or enjoys camping? A great icebreaker and a nice way to chat to people you don’t often get time to chat to, lots of fun and laughter whilst reinforcing the WI’s ethos of celebrating women’s talents and individuality.

Back to work, back to school, ready to get the Christmas tree down, if not done already, and navigating the icy roads this morning. It seems only a few days since we were making our Christmas wreaths, collecting for the Christmas food bank and celebrating but the days are getting longer and that must mean that Spring is on its way 🌷 🌺 🌹🥳🥳 In the meantime, stay safe, stay warm and keep in touch with those who may need support at this time 🥰 Here’s wishing all our members, families, friends and followers a healthy and fun year ahead.

White Ribbon Vigil at Wishaw Churchyard ✨

Last night,members of Wishaw WI wrapped up warm and gathered around our special tree in the Wishaw churchyard to take part in a White Ribbon Vigil, standing together to raise awareness and show support for women affected by abuse.

Each white ribbon displayed a symbol of hope, solidarity, and our shared commitment to ending violence against women. 💜

It was a meaningful moment of reflection for us all, followed by warm drinks and supportive conversation — a reminder of the strength found within our community and The WI (National Federation of Women's Institutes)

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped spread the message:
No more abuse. No more silence.

Today we recognise World Mental Health Day. Our minds deserve as much care and attention as our bodies. Keeping our minds alert, healthy, and balanced helps us face life’s challenges with strength and clarity. Whether it’s through learning something new, taking time to rest, connecting with loved ones, or simply pausing to breathe — every small act of mindfulness counts.

As a group Wishaw WI is constantly on the look out for ways to keep our minds and bodies active through our wide programme of events as well as time for relaxing and chatting in great company.
Thanks to WI Warwickshire for organising last week‘s Federation Quiz, which was a fun night for all and a big round of applause to everyone, particularly to the Norton Lindsay WI for winning 👏 👏
Also a big shout out to our craft group who have enjoyed their knit and natter sessions, preparing Christmas gifts for young women who are leaving care homes after the age of 18. 🥰

Let’s take a moment today to check in with ourselves and others. Together, we can build a world that values mental well-being just as much as physical health. 🧠💪

🎉☕🍰 What a wonderful afternoon!

Some of our members joined other Warwickshire WI groups yesterday to celebrate 110 years since the very first WI was founded in the UK – and what better way than with a party full of friendship, tea, and plenty of cake! 🎂✨

It was a joy to see so many members join in marking this incredible milestone. Here’s to 110 years of community, creativity, and camaraderie – and to many more to come. 💐💜
