Important Information for all parents/Guardians of the Company. Can all parents please read the information provided by GB Scotland.

You may have already seen this on Facebook today.
We as a company at 1st Wishaw will continue to work for the next year as GBS. Then in June 2027 we will work under the banner of GB Great Britain.
For the last 81 years, we have been part of GB Scotland. There will be mixed emotions with the company leaders and parents and we all need time to process this.
Whatever the future holds I want to say 1st Wishaw is in no way closing- We and those before us have built a company that we all can be proud of. We will continue as a company to remember all those in GBS at this time. Also we pray for Caroline Goodfellow, hq staff and the National Executive as they work together to support each member and company in GBS.
If there are any questions please feel free to ask, we hope you will continue to send the girls along in August when we return dates to follow.
We will keep all parents updated as these come in from GBS in the coming year.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our former Company Captain, Sheena Glenny. 🤍🕊

For 47 years, Sheena was the heart and soul of 1st Wishaw Girls’ Brigade, serving with unwavering dedication, passion, kindness, grace, and faith. As our beloved Captain, she touched the lives of countless girls and families throughout the years, inspiring us all through her example of service, leadership, and love for others.

Sheena was an inspiration to so many and a deeply loved and loyal member of the Girls’ Brigade family. Although she retired in 2017, she remained a dear friend of the company and continued to hold a very special place in all our hearts.

Many of us will cherish precious memories of Captain Glenny — from company nights, camps, parades, and parties, to officers’ nights out filled with laughter and friendship. Her legacy will live on through every life she touched and through the values she worked so hard to instil in generations of girls.

We send our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts, and prayers to Sheena’s daughters, Alison and Tracy, and their families, to her sister Elizabeth, and to all of Sheena’s loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.

Thank you for the memories, Sheena. You truly lived out the Girls’ Brigade motto: “Seek, Serve and Follow Christ.” You will never be forgotten.

Heaven has gained a beautiful soul. 🤍

Until we meet again, Captain Glenny.

A Special Night for 1st Wishaw
As I stepped down as Captain of the Company at the end of our Annual Parents Night.
My daughter Stephanie was Commissioned as the new Captain by our Chaplain Rev Brain Magadzire in front of Special Guests, Church Council Members, Fellow Leaders, Girls and their parents and Friends.
It has been an honour and privilege to have served the Company for the last nine years. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank everyone who has supported me over the years and also the support from GB Scotland.
A Special thanks to everyone who gave me presents, cards and flowers and for all the kind words received.
My sincere wishes go to Stephanie as she officially takes up her new role in August after the Summer break. I hope she will enjoy the role as much as I have over the years.
