For those of you who couldn't make the Bank holiday open day at the Octagon graveyard here are some photos I took this morning.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The Octagon Graveyard will be open this coming Bank Holiday (25th May) from 9:00 until 4:00pm. Please feel free to come in and look around to soak up the history and to enjoy the plants and flowers. The entrance can be accessed via Aldi car park and visitors are reminded that parking is limited to one and a half hours.

A steady stream of visitors today at the Octagon graveyard with Hazel and her friend turning up as soon as it was opened. The allium looked particularly nice with plenty of flowers in bud ready for when we open again for the next bank holiday on the 25th of this month. Here are some photos for those of you who couldn't make it today.

Many of the original trees in the graveyard had to be removed as they were too dangerous to leave especially after one particularly large tree fell down. We decided to replace them with smaller more manageable varieties especially those that blossomed to encourage wildlife. They do look particularly striking especially alongside the deep red and orange tulips. Here are some photos that we took today.

A beautiful Easter Eve service was held by Reverend Paul Kite in the Octagon Graveyard this evening with 20 people in attendance. People held candle lit lanterns which they then placed on the graves, pausing to reflect on those who have passed. A fitting venue for the service amongst the ancient gravestones with the colours of spring showing through in the daffodils, tulips and flowering cherry trees which were in full bloom.

The Octagon graveyard will be open over Easter this Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 9 until 4:00pm so that people can enjoy the flowering bulbs and spring blossom that gives it colour at this time of year. The graveyard can be accessed from the Aldi car park. Visitors are reminded that parking is limited to One and a half hours. Please feel free to pop in to experience this magical place and view this fascinating piece of Wisbech history.

ANNOUNCEMENT: This coming Saturday (4th April) there will be an Easter Eve Service in the Octagon Graveyard. The short service will start at around 6:00pm after which people can lay lighted candles on the gravestones in memory of those who have passed. Please feel free to bring candles in glass jars or lanterns to be lit at the service. People are reminded that parking in the Aldi car park is limited to just 90 minutes.

With Stan tidying up the graveyard ready for Easter weekend open days. Lots of bulbs in flower and the Prunus kojo-no-mai is covered in lots of white flowers.

With Stan carrying out an autumn w**d in the Octagon graveyard. It's almost November and there is still quite a lot in flower including antirrhinum, dahlias, Salvia's, foxgloves plus chrysanthemums, cyclamen and rudbeckia.
