Alma Beacon

Alma Beacon Alma Beacon encompasses three vital projects that provide essential support to the vulnerable members of our local community.

Alma Beacon supports vulnerable members of our local community.

Alma Beacon is the operating name of Windsor Christian Action a registered charity in England No. 1154308 Our aim at Alma Beacon is to support vulnerable people in our Windsor community, providing access to help, food, and a safe base as well as providing the opportunity to star

t the process of rebuilding lives

We aim to deliver the essence of kindness, nourishment, hope, and guidance that the name suggests. These projects are Windsor FoodShare, Windsor Homeless Project, and Windsor Street Angels. Whilst some activities continue to operate from other locations, they remain an integral part of Alma Beacon. In 2024 the charity secured its own building for the first time located at 73a Alma Road. The building now enables us to support, in an integrated way, the vulnerable members of our community. Our expanded capabilities through our various initiatives will help us to make an even greater difference to the lives of those in need and we strive to bring hope, comfort, and assistance to individuals facing challenging circumstances such as food poverty, homelessness, or night-time vulnerability.

Our angels will be out soon. The hub will be open at the Baptist Church on Victoria Street from 10pm - 3am and we will have angels out across the town too.

Our angels help anyone who may need it from charging a phone, providing first aid to checking in on the rough sleepers and making sure they have a hot or cold drink and snack.

Windsor Street Angels is part of Alma Beacon alongside Windsor Foodshare and Windsor Homeless Project.

A huge thank you to Windsor Racecourse for their incredible support and for giving Alma Beacon the opportunity to raise awareness of our work and vital funds to help vulnerable people in the local community.

Events and partnerships like these are so important in helping us continue the work of Windsor Homeless Project, Windsor Foodshare and Windsor Street Angels — supporting people facing homelessness, hardship and crisis across Windsor.

We are also enormously grateful to everyone who stopped to chat, donated, volunteered their time or showed an interest in what we do. Every conversation helps us spread the word and every contribution makes a real difference.

Together, we can continue helping vulnerable people in the community with practical support, compassion and hope.

Thank you, Windsor Racecourse, for helping us shine a light on the work of Alma Beacon. 💙

Alma Beacon is the umbrella charity supporting Windsor Homeless Project, Windsor Foodshare and Windsor Street Angels.

April was another incredible month for the team at Alma Beacon. We are thankful to our team of dedicated community volunteers, trustees, and staff who continue to work together to provide vital services to the vulnerable in our community.

Our corporate supporters were also busy with hands-on help, cooking, cleaning and donating.

We welcomed teams from IHG Hotels & Resorts Centrica De Vere Beaumont Estate and for the first time Aramark It was also great to meet Cllr Mandy Brar the new Mayor of Windsor & Maidenhead, visiting so early in her term to get to know the team and guests.

The team from IHG Hotels & Resorts didn’t holdback at their recent cleaning session leaving the building sparkling from top to bottom, thanks to Naomi Lawson Reann Morris Kelly Thomson and as always Daniel Harris for organising.

De Vere Beaumont Estate went above and beyond! Doubling up and helping Windsor Foodshare packing and sorting the donations from their inhouse food drive, as well as providing an exceptional chicken curry at lunchtime session for our guests. Thanks to volunteers Sam Williams, Anna Rees Emily Dunseath and Chef Dave Large.

Centrica were back again at a lunchtime session, happy to chat with guests, serve lunch & drinks - thanks to Caroline Minter, Jacqueline Forey & Sarah Gates

It’s fantastic that the first visit by Aramark was such a magnificent success. The professional chefs from Combermere & Victoria Barracks brought their expertise and even a bespoke designed menu for the day!

Special thanks to Jody Reeve, Kirsty H. and Ryan Beresford Wickham A. for their superb organisational skills.

We are always looking for passionate people to join us. Whether you want to bring your whole office for a team building volunteer day or share your own skills, please get in touch.

Lastly! With the closure of the cold weather night shelter at the end of March and 13 of our guests successfully housed, are you able to donate or fund a one/two person tent that could offer a safer place to sleep for those less fortunate?

Windsor Street Angels, Windsor Homeless Project and Windsor Foodshare are all part of the Alma Beacon charity helping vulnerable people in the community 🙏
