Alma Beacon is the operating name of Windsor Christian Action a registered charity in England No. 1154308 Our aim at Alma Beacon is to support vulnerable people in our Windsor community, providing access to help, food, and a safe base as well as providing the opportunity to star

t the process of rebuilding lives

We aim to deliver the essence of kindness, nourishment, hope, and guidance that the name suggests. These projects are Windsor FoodShare, Windsor Homeless Project, and Windsor Street Angels. Whilst some activities continue to operate from other locations, they remain an integral part of Alma Beacon. In 2024 the charity secured its own building for the first time located at 73a Alma Road. The building now enables us to support, in an integrated way, the vulnerable members of our community. Our expanded capabilities through our various initiatives will help us to make an even greater difference to the lives of those in need and we strive to bring hope, comfort, and assistance to individuals facing challenging circumstances such as food poverty, homelessness, or night-time vulnerability.

While most of Windsor is tucked up at home on a wet Saturday night, our brilliant Windsor Street Angels volunteers are out there until 3am, providing a safe, warm and welcoming place for anyone who needs it.

Their Safety Hub offers somewhere to get warm and dry, have a hot drink or snack, charge a phone, call a taxi, wait safely for friends or simply have a chat. It also provides a much-needed place for our emergency services to take a break during a busy night.

And sometimes it’s the simplest things that make the biggest difference — a hot chocolate, a Pot Noodle, a drink of squash or a snack. ☕️❤️

We have an Amazon Wish List containing the everyday items our Street Angels regularly need. If you could add just one or two items to your next Amazon order, you’d be directly helping our volunteers look after people in Windsor through the night.

👉 Please take a look at the Windsor Street Angels Amazon Wish List and donate if you can:

A massive THANK YOU to every one of our Street Angels who gives up their Saturday nights to help keep Windsor safe. You really are amazing. 💙

Windsor Street Angels is part of Alma Beacon, alongside Windsor Foodshare and Windsor Homeless Project.

While the rain has been welcome I think we can all agree it's been pretty miserable outside today. Tonight our hub doors are open and we are sure we will have plenty of guests wanting a place of shelter, a place to be dry, have a warm drink and a snack, charge their phone.

We welcome about ten rough sleepers to our hub on a Saturday night from 22.30 - 3am. The hub is in the Baptist Church on Victoria Street and it is open for anyone who needs a place of safety. That might be whilst you wait for your taxi or whilst your wait for your friends.

It's a place where emergency workers come for a sit down break when they are lucky enough to get one.

Our hubs most popular item is squash and pot noodles although with the weather turning we are anticipating lots of hot chocolates tonight too.

Squash, hot chocolate and snacks like pot noodle are all on our Amazon wishlist https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/3RZPEDBX1WR8X?ref_=wl_share and we really do appreciate all of the items we receive.

What a fantastic day representing Alma Beacon at Reckitt’s HQ in Slough!

Today we were honoured to be invited to Reckitt’s Volunteering & CSR Week, joining three other local charities to showcase the work we do across our community.

This was our first corporate showcase under the Alma Beacon umbrella, and it was wonderful to unveil our new display with our branded tablecloth, pull-up banner and, of course, our rock star photo cut-out! 🎸🤘 It certainly got people smiling and helped start lots of great conversations.
Be an Alma Beacon rockstar fundraiser!

Throughout the lunchtime showcase we met so many friendly and enthusiastic employees, sharing the work of Windsor Homeless Project, Windsor Street Angels and Windsor Foodshare, along with our latest news and Impact Report.

Our key messages today were simple:

💙 Windsor Street Angels urgently needs more volunteers to join our Friday and Saturday night teams, helping keep people safe in Windsor.

❤️ Windsor Homeless Project is looking for runners to take on the Windsor Half Marathon and raise vital funds to support people experiencing homelessness.

💚 Windsor Foodshare has seen a recent downturn in food donations, so we’re asking our wonderful community to help refill our shelves by donating food or organising workplace collections.

The highlight is that over the next two days, Reckitt employees will be volunteering with Windsor Homeless Project, helping to serve lunch to our guests. It was fantastic to meet some of the volunteers before they join us and we’re looking forward to welcoming them.

A huge thank you to everyone at Reckitt for making us feel so welcome and for recognising the value of volunteering in our community. We hope this is the beginning of a fantastic partnership.

Together we really can make a difference. ❤️

Chocolate and Pants!
See the info below and if you can help please click on the Amazon link 🙏

Windsor Street Angels is part of the Alma Beacon charity.

We need chocolate and pants! What a combination! They are the two items guaranteed to make a rough sleeper smile. Our chocolate rations are extremely low so we need some chocolate bars for our rucksacks and the rough sleepers need pants! Sizes m, l and XL are best. Hard to imagine not being able to get up and our clean pants on but that is the reality for our rough sleepers and a new pair or three will be really appreciated.

All the items we need are on our Amazon wishlist and we really do appreciate any donations made and will get these out to those who need them.

A HUGE thank you to our incredible volunteers who helped make our first-ever Alma Beacon stand at the Windsor Long Walk Live event such a fantastic success this weekend! ❤️
From setting up the new gazebo, welcoming visitors, chatting about our projects, fundraising, answering questions and spreading the word about what we do, every single one of you played an important part.
It was wonderful to see volunteers from across Windsor Homeless Project, Windsor Foodshare and Windsor Street Angels all coming together as one Alma Beacon team. That is exactly what we’re all about.
We really couldn’t have done it without your enthusiasm, energy and dedication. Thank you for giving up your time and for being such amazing ambassadors for our charity.
Here’s to many more events together… and hopefully lots of new volunteers and supporters inspired by meeting you all!
Together, we are the Alma Beacon charity ❤️
