As part of the VTTA Wessex 60th Anniversary celebrations, our first championship of 2026 was a Road Bike TT contested over 26 miles on the Circuit of Wool event (P454) organised by Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers on 12th April.

Having presented the 2025 awards at our lunch in February, Eamonn Deane maybe decided that he might want to be a Wessex champion this year - and that's what he's done by finishing first, with Louisa Cooper second just over a minute behind (on AAT). Janine Pattison completed the podium.

1st Eamonn Deane, Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers, 01:09:30 (Age Adjusted Time)
2nd Louisa Cooper, PDQ Cycle Coaching, 01:10:35
3rd Janine Pattison, Poole Wheelers, 01:14:29
Our thanks to Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers for their co-operation.

The next VTTA Wessex Championship is the Poole Wheelers event over 25 miles (P413/25) on Sunday 17th May. Entries close later this week so please enter as soon as possible if you haven't already done so

The Committee would like to wish all the Wessex Veterans a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

All the very best for the coming 2026 season. Pete is working on the Championship dates, so watch this space in the New Year for more details.

Planning is underway for our presentation lunch. We are returning to the Kings Court Chandlers Ford for 2026, please keep the 1st February free and come along and cheer on our champions and medal winner.

A gentle reminder, if you haven’t had time to renew your membership with Christmas, please log on and renew, you can pay for the lunch at the same time.

Dear all (also sneaking in a membership renewal message)

You are invited to the annual Wessex VTTA Awards Presentation and lunch on Sunday 1st February 2026 at 12.00 at the Masonic Lodge in Chandlers Ford. This event is a celebration of the achievements by you, your team mates and all Wessex VTTA riders during 2025.

We are delighted to have Eamonn Deane from Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers as our guest speaker. For anyone that doesn’t know Eamonn he was featured in the Wessex news in Issue 86 (June 2025) of The Veteran. He has a wide and varied cycling palmares, a great sense of humour and is a good speaker. Sarah Matthews from a3crg will also say a few words about the various VTTA competitions and the benefits of VTTA membership.

The lunch programme kicks off at 12.00 on Sunday 1st February. We’ll sit down to a three course lunch followed by speakers and presentation of trophies, medals and standard awards. Everyone on the list e-mailed to the Wessex members by Claire Newman will receive an awards and even if you didn’t win anything in 2025 please join us to celebrate with our winners and enjoy some inspiration during the cold, dark winter months. We expect proceedings to wrap up by 3pm. (If you didn’t get an e-mail from Matt please check your junk mail then e-mail Matt. His details are on on the Wessex section of the VTTA website).

The menu options will be added to the Wessex VTTA website and emailed to all members in the coming days.

Please head to https://www.vtta.org.uk/login to buy a ticket. Once you have logged in, go to ‘my profile’ select ‘membership extras’ from the menu, scroll down then Wessex lunch which will take you to the payment page. You are more than welcome to buy tickets for friends, family or your nearest cycling rival! The ticket price covers the meal and room hire.

When buying a ticket, how about joining or renewing your membership too?

With the 2025 season done and dusted and the indoor trainer getting a bashing due to the rubbish weather. It's a good time to think about 2026, starting with renewing your Wessex Vets membership.

The events will be available on the CTT website from the 1st January. Pete will be announcing our championship dates soon and we have a new Road Bike championship event for 2026.
It's the 60th anniversary of the Wessex Group, so let's make it a year to remember. If you are a lapsed member, please rejoin again and hopefully we will catch up at an event soon

We look forward to seeing you on 1st February.
