Join us on Thursday 2 July @ 10:30 for a free pollinator and butterfly training session at Cowslip Field, Wi******er.

The session will be led by Steve Bolton, Community Officer at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.

Find out how to creator pollinator monitoring surveys, so you can track pollinating insects in your own local green space and determine if they are decreasing, increasing or experiencing no change in diversity and abundance.

Turn the sound up and enjoy the soothing, meditative swoosh of the scythes ...

Last week, CPRE Hampshire organised a scything course at Andover Trees with professional scything instructor Chris Riley. Volunteers spent the day learning the technique and maintenance of the Austrian scythe in order to manage their own wildflower meadows in the future.

Through our partnership with Andover Trees, we have the opportunity to expand the work of our Magnificent Meadows project - now in its third year - from Wi******er into Andover areas.

This year, the National Campaign to Protect Rural England Centenary Awards are celebrating projects nationwide that make a difference. We would love to see some of the amazing work across Hampshire represented at the national awards.

Our volunteers make an incredible difference to the work we do at CPRE Hampshire.

Our hedgerow heroes contributed more than 3,000 hours of planting, adding more than 5km of new hedge. What a remarkable achievement.

Last week was incredible. Seeing so many people engage with Campaign to Protect Rural England 's 'On the Edge' garden at RHS - Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show, and the message of countryside protection behind it, was truly amazing.

If you caught the BBC coverage of the garden, we were fortunate that some of the filming took place in Cowslip Field, near Wi******er. This is a perfect example of an urban-edge meadow that has been protected and restored over the last three years.

In a break from filming, designer Sarah Eberle caught up with local ecologist Rachel Remnant from Land Lore Consulting, who is supporting us with our Magnificent Meadows project. With Sarah having a personal connection to Hampshire, it was the perfect chance to appreciate how far the space had come and the amazing capability of nature to recover if we let it.

Learning more about nature -

Some of the CPRE Hampshire team recently enjoyed a team building bee keeping experience, learning more about our precious pollinators.

Protecting our local countryside is one vital way we can support wildlife. Our Magnificent Meadows project, for example, protects and restores precious urban-edge grasslands, ensuring they can support a wide range of wildlife and the enjoyment of local communities.

We're thrilled the Campaign to Protect Rural England On the Edge garden, designed by Sarah Eberle has won Gold + Best in Show at RHS - Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show. Congratulations to all involved, what an incredible achievement!

We were very fortunate to have Sarah visit our urban-edge meadow Cowslip Field, near Wi******er, as part of BBC coverage. This site is connected to our Magnificent Meadows project, which aims to bring life back to precious meadows and species-rich grasslands.

Sarah has spoken about how her childhood was spent in these fringe areas, where her spirit of adventure and connection to nature came from. She also has a strong connection to Hampshire, remarking of Cowslip Field:

"It’s amazing to see how nature recovers. It shows that people and places can co-exist healthily, which is really fabulous.”

Congratulations again to Sarah and all the team involved in the On the Edge garden.
