💬 Your voice matters.

With support from the Hampshire Youth Forum, we've refreshed our Young People's Page to make it easier for young people to find the information they need. We've added new videos, resources to help share views and opinions, guidance on important transitions, useful organisation links, and information for those accessing support without an EHCP.

Information Update: New Autism & ADHD Single Point of Access

We wanted to share information about a new All-Age Autism and ADHD Single Point of Access (SPoA) and Triage Hub being introduced across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The aim is to make referrals for autism and ADHD assessments more consistent and easier to access for children, young people and adults.

🗓From 1st October 2026, the pilot will support adult ADHD referrals only, across NHS and independent sector-commissioned and Right to Choose arrangements for assessment and medication.

🗓From 1st November 2026, the service will expand to include children's ADHD referrals, together with adult and children's autism referrals.

Some key points:

🔹 Referrals for autism and ADHD assessments will now go through a single referral route.

🔸 Existing waiting list places will not be affected. If you were referred before 1 October 2026, you will remain with your current provider and keep your place on the waiting list.

🔹The Hub does not provide assessments, diagnoses or treatment. Its role is to review referrals and direct people to the most appropriate service.

🔸Support is available before, during and after the assessment process, and you do not need a diagnosis to access support.

🔹The legal Right to Choose remains unchanged where it applies.

Thinking about using AI for SEND Advice

Artificial Intelligence is becoming part of everyday life, but it's important to understand both its benefits and its limitations.

We've created a new Hampshire SENDIASS Statement on AI to outline our concerns about the use of AI, where it may not always be helpful, and how it can be used successfully to support children, young people, parents, and carers.

Our aim is to help people make informed decisions when using AI and ensure that professional advice and individual circumstances remain at the heart of SEND support.

✨ Feeling overwhelmed by education acronyms? You’re not alone.

EOTISC, Education Other Than in School or College, Alternative Provision (AP), Home Education, Off‑roll, EOTAS…

When your young person isn’t thriving in their current educational setting, it can feel like a whole new language is being thrown your way.

At Hampshire SENDIASS, we know how stressful and confusing this journey can be. That’s why we work hard to keep information simple, clear, and supportive—so you can feel confident when talking with education settings or the local authority.

🌟 Take a look at our website section on Education Other Than in School/College to help you navigate these terms and understand your options without feeling overwhelmed.

New resources added to our Neurodiversity section!

We've expanded our information offer with some new resources designed to support young people with organisation, planning and study skills.

We've recently added:

🔹 A Class Planner
🔸 A link to student organisation and study tips, particularly helpful for young people with ADHD

While these resources may be especially useful for some neurodivergent learners, many of the strategies can benefit all young people, and perhaps even a few of us adults too! 😊

If planning, prioritising tasks, keeping track of deadlines, or staying organised feels challenging, these tools may help you find approaches that work for you.

We're sharing this update from NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight for information and awareness.

As an impartial service, our role is to help families access information that may affect them. There are a number of questions and responses within the original post, including contributions from Hampshire Parent Carer Network, which provide additional detail about what these changes could mean for children, young people and families.

Please read the original post and comments to gain a fuller picture of the information being shared.

An update from the NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (HIOW ICB).

They are introducing a new All-Age Autism and ADHD Single Point of Access (SPoA) and Triage Hub to provide a single, consistent route for autism and ADHD referrals across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, including North East Hampshire.

This new single point of access doesn't change the level or availability of formal diagnostic assessments.

The Hub will provide a single referral route to assessment for people who may be autistic, may have ADHD, or both. It will help ensure referrals are directed to the most appropriate local service or approved Right to Choose provider for assessment, support and, where applicable, medication.

From 1st October 2026, the pilot will support adult ADHD referrals only, across NHS and independent sector-commissioned and Right to Choose arrangements for assessment and medication.

From 1st November 2026, the service will expand to include children's ADHD referrals, together with adult and children's autism referrals.

The introduction of the Single Point of Access and Triage Hub means that the referral process for autism and ADHD diagnostic services will change.

Once the relevant services are live:
• New referrals for diagnosis should no longer be sent directly to autism or ADHD assessment providers.

• Referrals for diagnosis should be submitted through the Autism and ADHD Single Point of Access and Triage Hub.

• Referrals for diagnosis will be clinically reviewed to identify the most appropriate service, taking into account the individual's needs, circumstances and
applicable patient choice arrangements. Where appropriate, referrals will be allocated to an NHS or independent sector-commissioned provider or an
approved Right to Choose provider, in line with local commissioning arrangements and national Right to Choose requirements.

• Referrers will receive information about the outcome of the triage process, including whether normal or urgent prioritisation applies, and any next steps.

What happens to people already waiting?

Individuals who were referred for an autism or ADHD assessment, or who were already on a waiting list, before 1st October 2026 will remain with their existing service and will continue to be supported by their current provider.

Children and young people who are already known to a Neurodiversity Team within their local area should remain within their existing service and continue to be
supported through the established local arrangements. Parents and carers should continue to contact their local Neurodiversity Team for advice and guidance. The team will be able to consider the individual needs and circumstances of the child or young person and advise on the most appropriate route for assessment and support.

Children and young people who remain with their existing Neurodiversity Team do not need to be re-referred through the Single Point of Access and Triage Hub.

If new information becomes available, or if the needs or urgency of the referral change, parents and carers should continue to contact the Neurodiversity Team for advice.

💙 Parent carers, how are YOU?

When your child is seriously ill or disabled, so much of life can become focused on them. Appointments, assessments, phone calls, paperwork, worries, decisions... and somewhere in amongst all of that, your own wellbeing can get pushed to the bottom of the list.

At Harry’s Pals, we’re here for you.

We provide free, bespoke counselling and therapy for parents of seriously ill and disabled children, giving you a safe, confidential space to talk to someone who understands the pressures that come with being a parent carer.
You don’t have to wait until you’re at breaking point. You don’t need to feel guilty for asking for help. Your wellbeing matters too.

If you’re a parent carer who could benefit from support, please get in touch. Taking that first step can feel difficult, but we’ll make the process as simple and supportive as we can. 💙
