We welcome the publication of NHS England’s new Cardiovascular Disease Modern Service Framework. It's a significant step forward in recognising the links between liver, heart, kidney and metabolic health.

The challenge now is to turn this vision into action. We're calling on policymakers to ensure liver disease is fully embedded within local pathways, prevention programmes and integrated models of care. Whenever people are assessed for obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease or kidney disease, there should also be opportunities to assess liver health and identify those at risk of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

Earlier this week we were at Parliament, speaking to MPs about the impact of liver disease in their constituencies. Thank you to all of the MPs who came along to speak with us.

The response from MPs was fantastic, with lots of really productive and encouraging conversations taking place. We'd also like to thank all of our supporters who contacted their MP to ask them to attend. Many of the MPs mentioned that they had been contacted by constituents!

💜 A huge thank you to Louis for sharing his story on the radio this week to help launch Liver UK and raise awareness of liver disease. Diagnosed with biliary atresia at just four days old, Louis is helping more people understand that liver disease can affect anyone, at any age.

Today, we're proud to introduce Liver UK – the new name for the charity formed when the British Liver Trust and Children's Liver Disease Foundation came together.

For over 30 years, we've supported people affected by liver disease and campaigned for better prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care.

Now, as Liver UK, we're bringing together our expertise, services and passion under one name to create one stronger voice for everyone affected by liver disease and liver cancer.

We're here to unite the liver community so that everyone, of every age and with every kind of liver disease, gets the care, support and hope they need.

Liver disease can affect anyone, at any age, yet too many people still face late diagnosis, stigma and unequal access to care.
We're here to change that.
