Four Wi******er organisations have come together to unveil a commemorative bench in Abbey Gardens, dedicated to ‘Absent Friends’, which was made possible through the generous donations of the Wi******er Round Table, Wi******er 41 Club, Wi******er Ladies Circle 18, and Tangent.
The bench highlights the 4 organisations’ commitment to community and remembrance. Visitors to the bench will have the opportunity to reflect on their own memories and enjoy the serene beauty and tranquillity of Abbey Gardens in Wi******er.
“We are incredibly proud to see this special bench materialise which honours the bonds we share with those we’ve lost and we encourage everyone to come and remember their absent friends,” said Tom Dierckx , 41 Club Chairman. Representing Wi******er Round Table, Tim Baker said “This bench will serve as a lasting tribute to the friendships that continue to inspire us.”
One Wi******er resident commented that after losing her husband, it was her children that were longing to have somewhere to go to find comfort. The bench will provide exactly that to so many over the years to come.
