This Men’s Mental Health Week, one of our young volunteers wanted to highlight something they’ve noticed among friends and other young people around them — that a lot of boys and young men struggle to talk openly about how they’re really feeling.
Sometimes emotions get pushed down, avoided or hidden behind “I’m fine”, and over time those feelings can build up and become overwhelming.
Talking isn’t always easy, but opening up to someone you trust can make a real difference. Whether it’s a friend, family member, teacher or counsellor, no one should feel like they have to deal with everything alone.
Checking in with others, listening without judgement, and creating space for honest conversations can help break down the pressure many young men feel to keep everything to themselves.
