Cranborne’s village hall is known as the Cecil Memorial Hall.

It serves as the venue for a wide variety of local community groups and societies and is also available for private hire with its well-equipped kitchen and bar.

Ragtime comes to Cranborne

If you fancy an evening of the authentic sounds of 1920s and 1930s America then this is for you.

On Friday 13th November, the amazing Jake Leg Jug Band will be bringing their jazz, blues, ragtime and gospel music to Cranborne Village Hall. They're going to transport us back to the prohibition era, with songs about murder, betrayal, gambling, liquor and redemption. Apparently it's "a smoking hot platter"!

The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £12.50 (£5 for accompanied under 18s). You can book via [email protected] or by calling 01725 49-39-29. Doors open at 6pm for our usual pre-show two-course meal, served (at 6.15pm) at our lively long tables. Interval snacks will also be available. This show replaces our previously-announced Artsreach performance which unfortunately has been cancelled.

Tickets selling fast!

Our half-term treat is selling out fast - have you got your tickets yet? The brilliant Squashbox Theatre are back in Cranborne Village Hall on Sunday October 25th with Curious Creatures, courtesy of Artsreach, and it promises to be a weird and wonderful afternoon!

Meet performing fleas, skateboarding snails and gymnastic gerbils, as well as many other creatures of all shapes and sizes. The Curious Creatures puppet show is a mix of slapstick, comedy and live music plus amazing facts about natural history: there's something for everyone from age 5 upwards.

The performance starts at 3pm and lasts around 50 minutes. Tickets are £8 for adults; £6 for under 18s; £24 for a family. Afterwards there's a puppet-making workshop at £4 (must be pre-booked). Refreshments will be available.

This is going to be a real treat.

The wonderful Inn Echo, a three-piece group hailing from Prince Edward Island, Canada, is coming to Cranborne on Friday 13th November. They’ll be bringing their cinematic, high-energy sound rooted in Celtic traditions, blending fierce fiddle, grooving guitar and soaring cello with undeniable chemistry. Brought to us by Artsreach, it should be another night to remember at Cranborne Village Hall.

Chaturdays this Saturday

Yes, it's the second Saturday of the month so that means it's Chaturdays at Cranborne Village Hall this Saturday, 10th October. Come along between 10.30am and 12.30pm for freshly-brewed coffee or tea, home-made cake and chat with friends and neighbours.

Art Café coming soon

Calling all artists - and budding artists. There's a new art group starting at Cranborne Village Hall on Tuesday 20th October.

Art Café will run on the first and third Tuesday of the month, from 1.30pm to 4pm. It will cost £3 per session with tea and cake provided. You need to bring your own materials and some enthusiasm....talent is optional! Come along for a relaxing afternoon with some good company.

Craft Café is still running on the second and fourth Tuesday and is very popular - but there's always room for more!

Last call for quiz entries

It's only a week until The Great Big Cranborne Quiz 2026. Who will take away the coveted Book and Bucket Cheeseboard?

It's all happening on Saturday 10th October. It's teams of 4, £40 per team to include a ploughman's supper, and the bar will be open. Doors open at 6.30pm and the quiz will start at 7.30pm.

It's quiz time!

Yes, the Great Big Cranborne Quiz is back. Annie has been busy putting the questions together and bookings are coming in thick and fast. Have you booked yet? Places are limited so don't delay.

It's all happening on Saturday 10th October at Cranborne Village Hall. Doors open at 6.30pm for a prompt start at 7.30pm. As always, it's teams of 4 (maximum); entry costs £40 per team to include a magnificent ploughman's supper; the bar will be open; and it would be appreciated if each team could bring a raffle prize, Payment needed on entry to secure your table.

And then it was the Harvest Supper.

After the excitement of the Cranborne Show, we then laid the tables and cooked the meal for the Harvest Supper. What a wonderful evening it was, with a really happy community spirit pervading the Hall.

Before and after the meal we were brilliantly entertained by local singer songwriter Daisy. And in the middle of the meal we had a mind-boggling session of Call My Bluff, presented by Annie, Giles and Simon.

There are too many thank yous that we need to make as it was a huge team who made both the Show and the Supper such successes. We just hope everyone enjoyed the day.
