MEET THE PERFORMERS - GREENSLEEVES
The South Wimbledon Summer Festival takes place from 1.30pm to 6pm on Saturday 27 June in Haydons Road Recreation Ground.
Another of our many performing groups who'll be entertaining the crowds during the afternoon, will be Greensleeves.

Greensleeves Morris Men are south Wimbledon's own Morris Men group, who are now celebrating 100 years of dancing. With their colourful outfits straight from the heartland of English tradition, they put on an energetic and vibrant display of dancing to pipe and tabor, melodeon, piano accordion, concertina and violin. Their repertoire, based on the dances from a range of English towns and villages, is regularly performed at festivals around the region, along with the traditional Wimbledon mummers play at Christmas locally. They will already have danced four times at Wimbledon's Day of Dance by the time they take centre stage at the festival. In the months after they will be performing as far away as Devon.
They are always keen for new members and welcome anyone who would like to try morris dancing, to their practice sessions locally.
They say they guarantee you will learn a dance or two and earn a drink afterwards!

WHO IS PERFORMING... BOLLYWOOD DANCERS
A reminder that the South Wimbledon Summer Festival takes place at HRRG on Saturday 27 June, from 1.30pm to 6pm.
Among the acts performing on the day will be:

Dance In Progress
Dance in Progress are a Bollywood dance fitness group which is based in Wimbledon. Founded by Neha, they run classes for everyone from complete beginners to seasoned dancers, from 3, to 103! The group has performed at the Mitcham Carnival, Wimbledon Winterfest, Merton Pride and Deen City Farm recently.
At the Summer Festival, audiences can expect a vibrant showcase of Indian dance. They will begin with a beautiful semi-classical performance featuring elements of Kathak, one of India's most celebrated classical dance forms, followed by a high-energy Bollywood dance fitness routine, giving the audience a sneak peek into the fun and uplifting atmosphere of their group classes.

LITTER
Many thanks to all those who turned out for our last litter pick on 23 May. We had 18 members and four councillors attend, who collected multiple bags of litter and dog waste.
Unfortunately, by the following morning, there was lots of rubbish scattered around the MUSA and bins by the entrances. Bags had been left near or next to the bins overnight and these were trashed by animals.
We politely ask anyone picnicking in HRRG to please take their rubbish home if it cannot go in the bins provided. Putting bags next to bins is actually fly tipping and anyone seen doing so by council inspectors can be fined.

LITTER PICK THIS SATURDAY
Our next monthly Litter Pick will be next Saturday 23 May. As usual, please assemble from 10am by the Mess Hut next to the Haccombe Road entrance. We have all the appropriate equipment but if you have your own litter picker do bring it. Wearing gloves is a good idea, but we do have some gardening gloves as well. We have a surprise addition which we will be testing for the first time and hope it will be a useful addition.
As always children under parental supervision are most welcome.
If you can't come along this Saturday, the June Litter Pick will be on Saturday 13 June.
