Plenty of anticipation this week ready for our big visitors day next Tuesday. 🤩 A great morning at The Merlin, with plenty of learning, referrals and valuable business conversations.

This week, Kyle Watt gave us a beneficial Education Slot🎓on “The Why Behind Visitors”. He highlighted how having a supportive community of businesses around you gives you the potential to widen your own possibilities for doing business. Not only do you have access to the people in your community, but then it widens out to all their individual communities. The more people we bring into the room, the more possibilities to see our businesses grow 📖

Congratulations to James Bostock ACA🏆, who supports businesses to grow and thrive. In particular Bake by Bean as they have grown from a small online bakery set up in lockdown to a nationwide delivery service of exceptional baked good - James wants to help scale them up even further, while getting to taste their cookies (quality control I believe its called.) 🍪

Our feature presentation came from Tony Turnerof Smarter Home 4U. Tony introduced us to his family business, all the members of his family play a role within the business, including his granddaughters, one sweeping the floors and the other showing off a builders love of a brew. Tony has a high standard of work and that is seen both in his building projects, but also in the ethos he applies to his employees. He is committed to development, working with apprentices and upskilling his employees to ensure constant development and improvement. Can you believe its September?🍂 There were definitely some autumnal colours being worn, fully embracing the coming change in season. The Merlin itself was in full autumnal bloom.

Tom Kelly was crowned Notable Networker for August. Tom has been a member of BNI for 23 years and we are celebrating his dedication to Wilmslow on the eve of his retirement from BNI.

This week, Dave Skeels gave us a beneficial Education Slot🎓on “New Connections”. He challenged our use of the word 'visitor', reminding us that really new faces are really new connections. Wilmslow is a community of businesses that support one another to grow and thrive, anyone who we welcome into our room becomes a new connection within our community. 🔗

Congratulations to Mark O'Shea🏆, who was this week’s 60-second winner who explained how websites should be a tool to generate more business and enhance your business, not just to be a landing page.

Our feature presentation came from Sam Norfolk-Booth of Chamelo. Sam kept things simple this week - answering all the frequently asked questions about the world of mortgages. He reminded us that a mortgage is the biggest loan most people will take out, reminding us how important it is to get an expert in to support you to make informed choices. 🧑‍🎓

This week, Tom Kelly - MD Ink and Toner World gave us a beneficial Education Slot🎓on “3 steps to a room full of referrals”. Those 3 steps are Preparation, Be Specific, Call to Action. Its important to know what you need for your business to be able to educate other people on how they can help you. Always remember, as well, that stories resonate📖

Congratulations to James Riley Awm🏆, who was this week’s 60-second winner who wanted to know if any of us know someone in their 60s 🙋🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️ All hands went up. James wants to speak to anyone in their 60s as he can help them review their financial plans to prepare for retirement, and hopefully retire nice and early!

Our feature presentation came from Tasha Carthew of Body Engineering Health. We had another quiz this week - true or false - Tasha gave us 10 health based 'facts' that we had to determine whether they were true or false. Second win of the day for James Riley, winning a tube of whipped cream🍦. Tasha's informative presentation reminded us to not ignore pain, its our bodies way of telling us something is wrong. When you are in pain get booked in with Tasha, who will listen to what's happening with you, and investigate your body to understand what is causing you pain and how to fix that. The ever important reminder from Tasha is "Look after your body, because where else are you going to live?"👭

To say its the summer holidays🏖️you certainly wouldn't know it at BNI Wilmslow - the room was full as always. A vibrant morning at The Merlin, with plenty of learning, referrals and valuable business conversations. Even with the rain coming down🌧️, we show up for each other and support one another.

This week, Laura Corrigan gave us a beneficial Education Slot on “How to refer hard to refer businesses”, explaining the importance of 121s and educating one another on how to refer our businesses 🎓

Congratulations to Dave Skeels🏆, who was this week’s 60-second winner with an explanation of how he can save businesses money on their energy requirements, particularly to help businesses worrying that they might need to lose people. I think we can all agree that helping people keep their jobs has a very positive effect on our communities.

Our feature presentation came from Craig Pratt of Style Windows of Cheshire. Instead of the usual presentation, Craig treated us to a music quiz 🎶 where each answer linked to something about Craig, both personally and professionally. Martin Neal took the opportunity to show off his knowledge of music, winning the quiz🥇! Craig then took us through some of the big projects he's worked on, showing us the impact of his work, alongside the accreditations that show he is at the top of his profession. His work helps save his clients on their energy bills, as well as bringing light into their homes and creating true kerb appeal🪟.

Another excellent morning at The Merlin, with plenty of learning, recognition and opportunities to strengthen our business relationships.

This week, Peter Marshall delivered an informative Education Slot on “What counts as a valid referral?”, helping members understand what makes a referral valuable, genuine and ready to be followed up.

We were also delighted to present Asif Khan with his Notable Networker certificate, recognising everything he has contributed to the chapter since joining. A thoroughly well-deserved achievement!

Our feature presentations took the form of four-minute Launch Pads from two of our newest members. Katayha Gould of Arkhi Architects gave us an insight into the sustainable one-off projects, passive homes and accessible homes she specialises in.

We then heard from Victoria Susan Greenhough, who represents The Genie’s Wish. Vic explained more about the charity’s important work and the people it supports by granting wishes to those facing challenging circumstances.
