Another great morning at The Merlin, with plenty of learning, referrals and valuable business conversations.

Peter Marshall educated us on why building relationships is his favourite core value. Pete has been a member of BNI for many years and built strong business relationships with many members during that time that have led to his business thriving.

Steve Shuttleworth gave us a beneficial Education Slot🎓on using LinkedIn. He emphasised why being specific is terrific when we are explaining who our ideal clients are. When you have specific people you want to be introduced to, Steve turns to LinkedIn to find those people. He has a good look at their profile and often finds that those introductions possibly would in fact be good for several members of the room. Then reach out, because you just never know who might be open to a conversation.

James took us through the history of the firm - the firm was started all the way back in 1892! 😲 James loves to work with businesses that share his interests, he certainly mentions meeting coffee roasters a lot! Tony Turner gave us a beneficial Education Slot🎓on “Your elevator pitch”. It was a reminder to us all that we aren't selling to the people in the room. Through our elevator pitches we educate each other on our businesses, who we want to work with, what we offer and why we cure other people's headaches.🤕

BNI Wilmslow – Tuesday 22nd August

This week, Peter Marshall shared his favourite BNI Core Value – Positive Attitude, explaining why it stands out to him and the difference a positive approach can make within the chapter and in business.

Steve Shuttleworth then delivered our Education Slot on “Welcoming New Members”, highlighting how we can all play a part in helping new members settle into the chapter, build relationships and get the most from their BNI membership.

Congratulations to Dave Skeels, who was this week’s 60-second winner with his clear and focused pitch.

Dave then took centre stage again for our feature presentation, telling us more about his company, Energise Earth, a strategic energy and sustainability consultancy. Dave gave us a great insight into how Energise Earth works with businesses to help them navigate their energy and sustainability requirements.

BNI Wilmslow – Tuesday 15th September

It was a great morning at The Merlin yesterday as we welcomed visitors to BNI Wilmslow for our Visitors Day. The room was full of energy from the start, with lots of introductions and conversations happening throughout the morning.

This week, Tom Kelly of Ink & Toner World gave us the Education Slot 🎓and brought back what has now become one of his most famous sayings:

“Don’t just go to BNI. Use BNI.”

Tom compared BNI to going to the gym; simply having the membership and turning up isn’t what gets the results. You have to use all of it. In BNI that means doing the 1-2-1s, making introductions, passing referrals, taking part in training and building relationships.

We also heard from Katayha Gould of Arkhi Architects, who brought this week’s BNI Core Value of Lifelong Learning to life, sharing why continuing to learn and develop is so important both in business and personally.

Congratulations to Katayha 🏆, who also went on to win this week’s best weekly presentation, and to Steve Rowlands from Steve’s Cheese 🧀, who won best visitor pitch.

Our Feature Presentation came from Tom Kelly with “My BNI Journey”. Tom took us back to his first visit in March 2003 and shared some of the lessons, connections, referrals and opportunities that have come from 23 years in BNI.

It was particularly fitting as this was also Tom’s final BNI meeting after 23 years. Tom has given a huge amount to BNI over the years, particularly through mentoring and supporting other members, and it was great to be able to recognise that on such a special morning.

Tom, thank you for everything you have given to BNI and to the people around you over the last 23 years.

You will be missed ❤️

He highlighted how having a supportive community of businesses around you gives you the potential to widen your own possibilities for doing business. Not only do you have access to the people in your community, but then it widens out to all their individual communities. The more people we bring into the room, the more possibilities to see our businesses grow 📖

Congratulations to James Bostock ACA🏆, who supports businesses to grow and thrive. In particular Bake by Bean as they have grown from a small online bakery set up in lockdown to a nationwide delivery service of exceptional baked good - James wants to help scale them up even further, while getting to taste their cookies (quality control I believe its called.) 🍪

Our feature presentation came from Tony Turnerof Smarter Home 4U. Tony introduced us to his family business, all the members of his family play a role within the business, including his granddaughters, one sweeping the floors and the other showing off a builders love of a brew. Tony has a high standard of work and that is seen both in his building projects, but also in the ethos he applies to his employees. He is committed to development, working with apprentices and upskilling his employees to ensure constant development and improvement. If you want a job done right, then you need Tony and Smarter Home 4U.

Tom Kelly was crowned Notable Networker for August. Tom has been a member of BNI for 23 years and we are celebrating his dedication to Wilmslow on the eve of his retirement from BNI.

Wilmslow is a community of businesses that support one another to grow and thrive, anyone who we welcome into our room becomes a new connection within our community. 🔗

Its important to know what you need for your business to be able to educate other people on how they can help you. Always remember, as well, that stories resonate📖

Congratulations to James Riley Awm🏆, who was this week’s 60-second winner who wanted to know if any of us know someone in their 60s 🙋🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️ All hands went up. James wants to speak to anyone in their 60s as he can help them review their financial plans to prepare for retirement, and hopefully retire nice and early!

Our feature presentation came from Tasha Carthew of Body Engineering Health. We had another quiz this week - true or false - Tasha gave us 10 health based 'facts' that we had to determine whether they were true or false. Second win of the day for James Riley, winning a tube of whipped cream🍦. Tasha's informative presentation reminded us to not ignore pain, its our bodies way of telling us something is wrong. When you are in pain get booked in with Tasha, who will listen to what's happening with you, and investigate your body to understand what is causing you pain and how to fix that. The ever important reminder from Tasha is "Look after your body, because where else are you going to live?"👭

To say its the summer holidays🏖️you certainly wouldn't know it at BNI Wilmslow - the room was full as always. A vibrant morning at The Merlin, with plenty of learning, referrals and valuable business conversations. Even with the rain coming down🌧️, we show up for each other and support one another.

This week, Laura Corrigan gave us a beneficial Education Slot on “How to refer hard to refer businesses”, explaining the importance of 121s and educating one another on how to refer our businesses 🎓

Congratulations to Dave Skeels🏆, who was this week’s 60-second winner with an explanation of how he can save businesses money on their energy requirements, particularly to help businesses worrying that they might need to lose people. I think we can all agree that helping people keep their jobs has a very positive effect on our communities.

Our feature presentation came from Craig Pratt of Style Windows of Cheshire. Instead of the usual presentation, Craig treated us to a music quiz 🎶 where each answer linked to something about Craig, both personally and professionally. Martin Neal took the opportunity to show off his knowledge of music, winning the quiz🥇! Craig then took us through some of the big projects he's worked on, showing us the impact of his work, alongside the accreditations that show he is at the top of his profession. His work helps save his clients on their energy bills, as well as bringing light into their homes and creating true kerb appeal🪟.

BNI Wilmslow – Tuesday 4th August

Another excellent morning at The Merlin, with plenty of learning, recognition and opportunities to strengthen our business relationships.

This week, Peter Marshall delivered an informative Education Slot on “What counts as a valid referral?”, helping members understand what makes a referral valuable, genuine and ready to be followed up.

We were also delighted to present Asif Khan with his Notable Networker certificate, recognising everything he has contributed to the chapter since joining. A thoroughly well-deserved achievement!

Our feature presentations took the form of four-minute Launch Pads from two of our newest members. Katayha Gould of Arkhi Architects gave us an insight into the sustainable one-off projects, passive homes and accessible homes she specialises in.

We then heard from Victoria Susan Greenhough, who represents The Genie’s Wish. Vic explained more about the charity’s important work and the people it supports by granting wishes to those facing challenging circumstances.
