What a send off ❤️
Today was emotional, beautiful, joyful and everything in between.

Our final hub day was also a celebration — of Angie’s birthday, of CommuniTea, and of all the people who made this little place feel like home.

This video is just a tiny snapshot of what CommuniTea has really been about…
connection, kindness, laughter, support, friendship, cups of tea, hard days made lighter, and people showing up for one another.

To everyone who walked through our doors over the last 18 months — whether you came every week or just once — thank you.

Thank you for the chats, the smiles, the stories, the support, and for helping create something that meant so much to so many.

As this chapter closes, I just want to say this from me, personally:
Please stay in touch.
With me, and with each other.
If connections have been lost along the way, try to reconnect for a lighter heart.
Be kind to each other — and to the people who may have become future hubbers too.

Talk to people. Share a brew. Check in. Include people.
Because community doesn’t only live in a building — it lives in people.

And if CommuniTea leaves anything behind, I hope it’s this:
Be kind. Be welcoming. Be the safe place if you can.

It’s with a very heavy heart that we share that CommuniTea will be closing its doors this Thursday 💛

Over the last 18 months, CommuniTea has been so much more than just a place for a brew. It’s been a space for friendship, support, laughter, comfort, community, and connection.

To everyone who has walked through our doors, joined in, popped in for a chat, volunteered, supported us, or simply helped make this little hub what it has been… thank you. Truly.

Sadly, due to the rising costs of keeping the hub open, we are no longer able to continue.

This has not been an easy decision at all, and we know this news will be upsetting for many.

Our final day will be this Thursday, and we would love for you to come and join us for one last get together 💛

Thursday:
☕ Comfort Café with Eden Valley Hospice – from 10am

🎉 Angie’s Birthday Gathering & Bon Voyage CommuniTea Party – from 1pm

Please come along for one last brew, one last chat, and one last celebration of everything CommuniTea has been.

CommuniTea may be closing its doors, but the kindness, friendships and memories made here will stay with us always.

After a 6 month adventure in the New Spotted Cow, we are moving on to pastures new (or old as the case may be). You can still come and visit us back in the CommuniTea Hub behind Greggs for a nice brew and maybe a slice of cake 🍰

There are lots of exciting plans in progress and we hope you’ll join us for the ride - onto the next chapter!

As always, thank you to all of our wonderful supporters - we wouldn’t be here without you and it makes a huge difference to local people’s lives.

We are aware of an anonymous post that was recently shared.

This seems to have now been removed - thank you to the group moderators for the swift removal. However, for full transparency, we feel it is important to address the claims publicly.

Cumbria CommuniTea Care CIC is a registered Community Interest Company (CIC) tackling loneliness and isolation in Cumbria . We are not a charity; however, we operate as a registered non-profit organisation. The CIC is a separate legal entity in its own right and is not owned by or registered to any single individual.

The Spotted Cow café operates as part of the CIC model, generating income that directly supports the running of the community hub. All income is reinvested back into CommuniTea’s services, staffing, activities and operational costs.

There is no “charity money” being used and no misuse of funds. Our accounts are publicly available via Companies House on gov.uk in line with legal requirements.

We are always happy to address genuine concerns openly and transparently. However, unsubstantiated public accusations can damage the reputation of community organisations and ultimately affect the support available to vulnerable and isolated people we serve — in the hub, in the café, and in people’s own homes. We urge people to come to us directly if there are any questions or concerns via our website contact page.

We remain committed to integrity, accountability and continuing the positive work being delivered locally. Thank you for reading, and for your continued support for this much needed cause.
