๐ŸŒฟ Community. Creativity. Healing. ๐ŸŒฟ

Yesterday, Wildoria CIC and Hailstone Holistics had the pleasure of attending the Wigan Wellbeing Festival.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with local people, share information about our work, listen to stories, build new relationships, and introduce more people to the wellbeing and creative opportunities available within our community.

Throughout the day we spoke with people from all walks of life, exchanged ideas, made new connections, and had meaningful conversations about healing, creativity, confidence, wellbeing, and belonging.

Events like this remind us why Wildoria CIC exists.

We believe that people thrive when they feel seen, heard, valued, and connected. Every conversation matters, and every connection has the potential to create positive change.

A huge thank you to the organisers, everyone who stopped by our stand, and all those who showed an interest in our work.

We're excited about what lies ahead and look forward to continuing to build opportunities that support wellbeing, creativity, empowerment, and community across Wigan and beyond.

๐Ÿ’š Healing begins when people feel seen.

๐ŸŒฟ Partnership Announcement ๐ŸŒฟ

We are delighted to announce a new partnership between Wildoria CIC and MissPlaces CIC.

At Wildoria CIC, we believe that healing begins when people feel seen. Through creativity, connection, and community, we strive to create spaces where people feel valued, supported, and empowered.
As part of this collaboration, we will be working together to support women's wellbeing through a creative and inclusive workshop, Gentle Self-Care for Difficult Days.

This partnership brings together two organisations that share a commitment to reducing isolation, improving wellbeing, and creating meaningful opportunities for women within our communities.

A heartfelt thank you to Amanda Bentham and the team at MissPlaces CIC for their trust and collaboration. We look forward to the beginning of this journey together and to the positive impact we can create side by side.

๐Ÿง  How My Mind Works

For most of my life, I thought there was something wrong with me.
I struggled to understand why my brain seemed to work differently from so many people around me.

At school, at work, in relationships, and in social situations, I spent years trying to fit into boxes that never seemed to fit me.
I learned to mask. I learned to adapt. I learned to pretend I was coping when, often, I was exhausted.

Now, at nearly 51 years old, I finally understand that my mind isn't broken.
It's simply wired differently.
My brain doesn't think in straight lines.
It thinks in connections.

I can hear a conversation and immediately see possibilities. I can meet a person and imagine collaborations. I can spot patterns, links, and opportunities that others might not see.

What can look like chaos from the outside is often a web of connections forming inside my mind.

For years, I tried to force myself to think like everyone else.
Now I work with my brain instead of against it.
I use notebooks. I use voice notes. I create systems that support me rather than trying to squeeze myself into systems that were never designed for me.

And do you know what?

Many of the projects I've helped create, including Wildoria, were born because my mind sees possibilities where others see separate pieces.

If you're a woman who has spent decades wondering why life seems harder for you than it appears to be for everyone else, perhaps you don't need fixing.
Perhaps you simply haven't been given permission to work with your mind instead of fighting against it.

๐Ÿ’š Different doesn't mean less. ๐Ÿ’š Different can be a gift.

๐Ÿ’š Yesterday was one of those days that shifts your perspective.

I spent the day at The Bluecoat in Liverpool attending a Creative Research and Evaluation event for the Third Sector, and I left feeling inspired, hopeful, and excited about the future.

I'll be honest, words like research, data, and evaluation have always felt a little intimidating to me. What I discovered yesterday is that they don't have to be.

Research can be creative.

Research can be visual.

Research can be built around people, stories, experiences, and community.

Throughout the day we explored different ways of listening and learning, from conversations and visual activities to poetry, collaboration, and creative exercises. We used coloured dots, built with Lego, reflected on challenges, and explored how people communicate in different ways.

One of the biggest lessons I took away is that not everyone expresses themselves through words alone. Sometimes people communicate through art. Sometimes through stories. Sometimes through creativity. Sometimes simply by being given the space to be heard.

The biggest gift of the day wasn't just the learning.

It was the people.

I met some incredible researchers, academics, CIC leaders, and community organisations. The conversations, connections, and shared passion for making a difference reminded me why community matters so much.

As someone who believes deeply in human connection, it was a wonderful reminder that some of the most meaningful opportunities come from being in a room together, sharing ideas, listening, and learning from one another.

I came home with new ideas, new contacts, and a renewed sense of purpose for Wildoria CIC.
