Wigan and District Ramblers We are a very varied and active walking group with members of all ages. We especially welcome new ramblers. For coach Rambles you do need to book in advance !

You do not need to book for the local walks just turn up & walk with us.

Coach Ramble Hathersage !
Saturday 4th July 10-30 start with an estimated finish of 4-00

Hathersage is a village and civil parish in the Peak District in Derbyshire, England. It lies slightly to the north of the River Derwent, approximately 10 miles (16.1 km) south-west of Sheffield.

There will be two walks on this coach Ramble, David will lead the 7 mile walk which will start in the pretty village of Hathersage & follow paths up to Stanage edge which should give us great views over the high peaks of Derbyshire, the walk is a moderate walk with a long steady climb of around 50 minutes up to Stanage Edge, David’s walk will have 5 stiles to navigate!

Liz will lead a 4 mile walk which will also start in the village centre more info regarding the 4 mile walk will be forthcoming shortly !

Once the walks are completed there should be enough time for a cafe/pub visit, the coach will leave Hathersage at 5-00 for the return journey home !

Can people joining our coach rambles make sure they have the following, Waterproof coat, Boots/Shoes,Waterproof over trousers, Rucksack & pack lunch !

Walk leaders may refuse permission to join a walk if the leaders judge the person is NOT fit or Adequately clothed for the outdoors.Leaders may vary the walk if the conditions are judged to be unsuitable. Walkers safety is there own responsibility.

A very BIG thank you to Chris, Jill,Tony,David & Phillipa for leading two excellent walks around the very beautiful & scenic Glossop countryside, not a promising start with light drizzle but the skies cleared mid morning an excellent day had by 34 Ramblers !

This walk will be a 4 mile walk around the Beacon country park taking in the fields & country lanes of the beautiful surrounding area the walk will be led by David !

Parking at Harts Lane WN8 ORR car park upholland it’s near mill lane !

There will be two walks on this Ramble a 7 mile & a 5 mile
The walk leaders are Tony & Phil

The 7 mile walk for the first 1.5 miles is a quite steep strenuous steady walk up to the trig point of c***s hill with clear weather there should be great views over the open moorland to the Peak District & Manchester !

Further details will be forthcoming regarding the 5 mile walk once the recce has been completed!

Once the walks are completed there should be time for a pub/cafe visit in the town of Glossop !

The coach will leave Glossop at 4.00 for the return journey home !
