H&R Ainscough Barge Heritage Society. AMBUSH is registered on the Historic Boats Register and is currently undergoing restoration. Anyone can come and help, no matter what their age or ability.

We are a small group of people trying to restore and protect two great barges with a considerable history on and around the North West's canals. The Project includes the reaearch and history of Ainscough's Mill and the social and industrial heritage of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal between Liverpool and Wigan.We are a registered charity.

This is just a gentle reminder that there are no deliveries tomorrow Friday 9th January, please do not ring Derek send a text instead and he will pick it up. Also after Saturday 10th there will be no diesel until Monday the 12th.

24th - 28th December | CLOSED | No deliveries.

29th - 30th | Essential deliveries only.

31st - 02nd | CLOSED | No deliveries.

03rd January Normal service resumes.

Ambush is operated on a not for profit basis. Funds generated are used to ensure the operation and maintenance of Ambush.

Funding also helps to develop H&R Ainscough Barge Heritage Society, to achieving our wider goals.

Community event at Burscough Wharf to celebrate 250 years since the opening of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal between Wigan and Liverpool.

Join us for a community event to celebrate the the Leeds & Liverpool Canal in Burscough. 19 October 2024 marks the 250th anniversary of the opening of the canal between Wigan and Liverpool.

Our event will celebrate the history of the canal in Burscough. We will be hosting family activities in Burscough Library, guided walks, information about our local volunteering, stalls from local canal and history groups, and a community art workshop to create a new artwork to celebrate the canal. We are also pleased to be welcoming historic canal boats with connections to the area.

We look forward to seeing you there!!
