We've been so busy we've barely posted! Last thursday was our Autumn Wreath session at the new Peelers bar in The Old Courts Wigan - lovely venue! We had such a ball with all the beautiful tactile materials that have been mostly hand picked and dried by Ali & I over the past 6 weeks 😍

Btw would anyone interested in some dried floral bouquets, we have some spare and don't want to waste x Not silly expensive

Aw love this, today was a really lovely one, all about relaxing a bit and just experimenting with the process 😊 ❤️

Today I went along to a botanical ink painting session hosted by Victoria from The Community Patch CIC at Fur Clemt 🌿

It’s not quite finished yet...I need to take the flowers off and do some fine line detailing - but I just loved giving it a go.

I’ve been to workshops where people have commented when I’ve got something wrong or haven’t done it perfectly, especially when they knew what I did for work. It has left me feeling like I wasn’t allowed to be bad at something or just be a beginner. It really knocked my confidence for a while and put me off making myself vulnerable enough to try new things.

After a bit of self reflection and a good chat with myself and a few others, I remembered that experimentation and process over perfection are at the heart of everything I stand for. So I’m taking my own advice for once and giving things a go simply because I enjoy them.

This Friday's walk is in the beautiful ancient woodland of Elnup woods. We'll be spotting mushrooms, seeds, leaves and all the beautiful signs of autumn as we walk along the brook.

23rd Oct. Setting off at 10am from Parkbrook Lane in Shevington (if you need a lift from by me just say!)

It's 2.5miles long and it is muddy! Bring your wellies or big boots, there are also some steps and it's generally uneven ground but not too challenging.

We're delighted that Victoria Holden, orchardist and educator from The Orchard Project and Northern Lily, will be joining us to host the session.

This event is part of our ongoing work to improve the park for people and pollinators. The community have joined together over the past year (and longer!) to plant a 15-tree orchard full of apples, pears, plums and cherries, fruit bushes and herbs, and several flower beds.

This is our park, and the orchard will be here for everyone to enjoy for years to come. We hope you can make it!

Today’s macrame workshop at Fur clemt was a good reminder that learning a new skill takes time, patience and practice.

We had such a lovely group making plant hangers, with everyone working at their own pace. It was so nice hearing from people who’d tried to learn macrame on and off for years but hadn't quite ever managed it until today.

It's really satisfying to finally get the hang of something, and it finally clicks! I was so proud of everyone for really trying their best even though we ran out of time.

Thank you to everyone who came along and gave it a go. We’ll be running this one again hopefully, with a little more time to enjoy the process.

Also, how sweet of Sarah and Gilly to sing happy birthday! Legends!

Really looking forward to making macrame plant hangers with everyone on Friday. Just a few spaces left - only £5 each and you get a pot too.

They are very tricky to photograph in full lol, but it's an easy technique and really fulfilling to complete! 🌿

We're in the community garden on Wednesday 14th. There's loads to do if you fancy some fresh air and gentle movement.

St Anne's School in Standish Lower Ground joined us recently to help us potting on and planting bulbs, and we've been weeding away and doing lots of much needed jobs. And plenty of playing too. We always need the help, all the veg is handed out free to the community but it takes a lot of work! Everyone welcome 🌿🌸

If you've seen Botanical Ink Painting in our upcoming events and thought, I wonder what that is? Here you go. It's a very beautiful and experimental process, working with dried flowers and gorgeous acrylic ink to create an abstract piece of art.

I find this so interesting and soothing to do, and would love to show you how. It's just about feeling and having a go, there's no wrong way.

We're doing this together on 20th October at Fur Clemt. Only £5 pp tickets are on their Tickets Tailor

This Friday 16th we're also doing Macrame plant hangers!

We delved into the wonderful world of herbs with our P2P group today. Learning about growing, care and best conditions, and how to harvest.

Then we had a walk around the herb garden at St Anne's and having a smell, touch and nibble. We've got all sorts there now, 4 or 5 types of mint, taragon, lemon balm, chives, thyme, various oregano, bay, few different parsleys, thyme, rosemary and more 😍

Then finally we put together herb pots to grow at home. Such a lovely easy way to get started with plants at home.

We had a new garden baby too, though he mostly snoozed away 😊

Can't believe its the penultimate week, what a great group! Going to really miss it.

Some lovely free fruit and veg on the honest shelf too!
