I’m very proud of my RMT South East Essex Branch for keeping the alive of a in my life time that is Brother Peter Lindsay who was our Branch Secretary for over 20 years from 1970’s - 1995 when he retired.
Peter was an inspiration to me and many others and he guided & educated me in my early years as a union and trade union until I took over from him in 1996 as the until I retired at the end of last year.
As a memorial to Peter Lindsay, the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) SEE Branch has organised “The Peter Lindsay South East Essex Branch Education Programme” with a brief seminar that precedes the monthly branch meeting. The inaugural event took place in June 2025 on the 14th. anniversary of his death and was hugely successful dealing with Equality.
Today is the second event and hosts the RMT Pensions Officer Paul Norris to educate our members on all things pension wise.
Fiona Thompson has now taken over the role of Branch Secretary going forward after I was forced to retire from the railways due to ill health in August 2025 and it certainly seems that the education of future RMT reps & activists is high on her agenda. 👏👏👏
