Chas & Dave - finally living the good life!
These two boys were living a pretty miserable existence in a kennels where even the most basic needs were not being met. I had to choose which 2 Greyhounds take, which is never an easy thing to have to do, but I chose two of the older big black dogs. Dave being 7, and Chas being almost 8.
They both looked so sad. Dave's eyes were pleading with me to take him.
I named them Chas & Dave, even though they wasn't a 'pair'!
It felt so good to get them back to our kennels on nice soft beds in clean kennels with plenty of good food. They were both underweight, very smelly and in need of urgent dentals - especially Dave, who's mouth was absolutely rotten. I think he had really suffered with his bad teeth.
These boys were both completey shut down, but with lots of TLC and time, i knew it wouldn't be long before their lovely personalities would shine through.
They both ended up needing teeth extractions, and as we thought, Dave lost a lot of teeth. But you could tell he felt so much better once all those bad teeth were out.
Although the boys had not shared a kennel, they were walked together every day here, and were next to eachother in their kemnels & paddocks. Dave seemed to bond closely to Chas, and was always happy to be in Chas' company. Chas wasn't really bothered if Dave was with him or not, but we didnt tell Dave that!
The boys continued to blossom, both physically & mentally.
Then the time came when they were ready to find homes.
Steve & Dianne, who had rehomed several Greyhounds from us over the years, had recently lost their last Castledon Greyhound, so they got intouch to say they were ready to rehome another Greyhound.
I told them about Chas & Dave, hoping they might consider one of these very deserving boys. We arranged for them to come and meet them, which they did, and once they met, Steve & Dianne quickly decided they would adopt them both! How lovely! I was so pleased for Chas & Dave.
Both boys have settled into their new world really well and are loving their new lives π₯°
