📣 We’re attending the Caithness Community Conversation event this week, are you?

Join the Conversation in Caithness:

📅 Thursday 28th May
⏰ 1:00pm – 4:00pm
📍 Royal British Legion, Riverside Road, Thurso

This friendly, market‑stall style event brings together community groups, local organisations, practitioners, and partners to showcase the wide range of positive work taking place across Caithness. It’s a chance to discover local services and projects, share progress and make valuable connections with others working in and for our communities.

Alongside the stalls, there will be a series of short, timed talks from NHS Highland, Foundation Scotland, and The Highland Council, offering insights into health, funding, and place‑making opportunities in our area.

Whether you’re hosting a stall or simply coming along to network, everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be available, and we encourage residents, community members, groups, organisations and practitioners to drop in, say hello, and be part of the conversation.

We’re delighted to share our 2025 Impact Report 🌿

This year, we supported 63 projects across 39 communities in the North Highlands—investing over £108,000 in the people, places, and ideas that keep our communities strong.

From improving local spaces and supporting wellbeing, to creating opportunities for learning and connection, this report captures the difference community-led projects are making every day.

A huge thank you to all the groups, volunteers, and partners who make this work possible.

We are so delighted to have been able to support Historic Assynt with their upcoming tour of archived materials.

Check out their page and follow along for more info and the chance to connect in person with this wonderful group and the rich history of the area 🤩

Happy 20th Anniversary Historic Assynt 🥳🥳🥳

The Inchnadamph Old Kirk Archive - Happy 20th Anniversary!

The Assynt Archive at the Old Kirk officially opened as a permanent resource in 2006, following the completion of the Inchnadamph Project, which saved and restored the 18th-century Inchnadamph Old Kirk for community use.

Given this big birthday, we thought it was time to give the archive some much needed TLC and create digital records of its contents. We’ve been busying away over the winter months and hope to share some of our collection over the coming weeks.

We also thought a tour of Assynt was in order. It seems a shame for us to hold all this wonderful information, and not share it across our communities. Thanks to the North Highland Initiative we’ve secured funding for the coming year to deliver this and more and look forward to sharing plans with you as they progess!

If you’re interested in joining us and being part of this work over the coming year, just drop us a message or come and speak to us at the Glencanisp Open Day!

At North Highland Initiative, we’re here to help our communities and voluntary groups thrive.

That’s why our Community Infrastructure Support Programme (CISP) is open for applications all year round, with no deadlines.

We know how much local groups already juggle, so we’ve made accessing our £2,000 grants as simple and flexible as possible. No cut-off dates — just support when you’re ready to apply.

If your group could benefit from funding, we’d love to hear from you.
