🎃🧁 Calling All Bakers! 🧁🎃

We’re looking for baking donations for our Halloween Funday on Saturday 31st October!

Cakes, cupcakes, biscuits, traybakes — spooky or sweet — all contributions are very welcome and will help us raise funds on the day! 🧙‍♀️👻

📍 Drop-off times & locations:
🕘 Friday 30th October at Wick Home-Start Hub – 9am to 3pm
🕙 Saturday 31st at Wick Assembly Rooms – 10am to 11am

🌻Have you seen our Sunflower Project Thurso mentioned on our 'What's on?' Poster and been wondering who the sessions are for? 🌻

Our Sunflower Groups are specifically for adults and children to explore neurodiversity together in a safe, friendly and supportive environment.

Our Thurso group is run by Gemma Walker-Ham and Chloe Gillott -Davies.

💜It is aimed at families who are exploring or experiencing neurodiversity.
👨‍👩‍👦Parents/carers attend with their children
🫶The emphasis is on creating a safe, welcoming, non-judgemental space.
🎨Activities can give children opportunities to explore through play, sensory experiences and other activities, while parents can meet others who understand their experiences.

🌟It also provides an opportunity for parents/carers to have a chat, connect with other families and our team.

To help us keep the group small, calm and neurodiversity-friendly, places are limited. If you feel the Sunflower Group would be a good fit for you and your family and you would like to attend, please get in touch with us beforehand.

We want to make sure the group remains a comfortable, welcoming and supportive space for everyone who attends.

🎄CHRISTMAS CARD DEADLINE TOMORROW 🎄

Home‑Start Caithness is looking for young artists to help design our 2026 charity Christmas card. Whether it’s a Christmas tree, a snowy scene, or something completely unique, we’d love to see your creations.

Open to children aged 0–10 years. Please create your design using colouring pencils if possible. Once finished, you can drop your artwork into our Wick Hub, Thurso Hub, or any of our Home‑Start groups for judging. Don’t forget to include your name, age, and contact details.

Entries close Friday 16 October. The winning artists will receive a prize, and their design will be printed as our official charity Christmas card for 2026, with full credit to the artist.

This fundraiser will support our Winter Campaign, helping local children and families through the colder months. So, if you’re buying Christmas cards this year, why not choose one designed by an aspiring little artist , leaving a lasting mark on the world while supporting a local family charity?

The 4th Year Apprentices at Dounreay have organised a Trivia Night to raise money for Home-Start Caithness.

📅 Friday 23rd October
⏰ 7:00pm for a 7:30pm start
📍 Royal British Legion Bar
👥 Teams of up to 6 members

Gather your friends, family, or colleagues and put your knowledge to the test, all while supporting local families through Home-Start Caithness.
